Develop a state-of-the-art product. Make sense of the future. Use data to drive business.

At CB Insights, we’re building a superhuman AI analyst for corporate strategy.

We provide the world’s leading enterprises and most ambitious investors with instant insights to bet on the right markets, stay ahead of competitors, and source the right companies.

We collect millions of structured and unstructured data points from thousands of sources; analyze them with AI to generate profiles and reports about markets and companies; and deliver those insights through a web and mobile application, a browser extension, a public API, data feeds, and integrations.

Together with engineering and design, our product team sets the pace of innovation for our customers. We launch new capabilities every month to solve their problems, and do not hesitate to take advantage of the latest technologies, especially in artificial intelligence.

Our mission is to democratize access to insight the same way the internet democratized access to information. Come join us.

The Role You’ll Play:

You will lead a product development team focused on user retention and engagement. Your team’s surface area includes the personal briefing–an AI created analysis of events unique to each user–personalization, alerts, notifications, and lists.

Your Main Tasks:

  • Solve problems for customers, using qualitative (interviews, user testing) and quantitative (usage analysis, experimentation) means to discover pain, define problems, and validate solutions
  • Shape new initiatives by working backwards from the customer experience to write compelling mock press releases and FAQs. Articulate, defend, and develop your point of view with C-level stakeholders
  • Drive new initiatives with extreme focus, top speed, and rigorous quality
  • Serve as product owner for a top-notch development team. Organize the backlog, crush blockers, minimize distractions.
  • Collaborate tightly with your designer and engineering lead as a trio to lead your team
  • Prioritize your team’s roadmap based on customer value and commercial impact, with 60 days of defined work and 6 months of visibility into the future
  • Get your hands dirty on everything from QA to data labeling to prompt engineering. No job is too small.
  • Frame positioning and propose pricing & packaging. Work with marketing and enablement to equip GTM. Present internally and with customers.
  • Define, report on, and deliver improvements in user retention and engagement

What you bring to the table:

  • You solve customer problems. You’re endlessly curious about their needs, desires, fears, and work, and reveal real problems through incisive interviewing and analysis.
  • You have deep empathy for users and consider every detail of their experience, from UX to copy to positioning to the buying process.
  • You’ve shipped new products or features end-to-end, from ideation to delivery to continuous improvement.
  • You’re impatient and relentless.
  • You write and think clearly.
  • You display executive presence with senior leaders and clients. You focus on what matters, answer questions directly, and speak to facts over selling.
  • You’re compelling with large audiences. You tell stories using data and customer experiences.
  • You bring energy and clarity. Other functions want to work with you.
  • You’re fascinated by artificial intelligence. You’ve experimented with LLMs at work or in your free time and you take a perspective about how it can transform work–both yours and your customers’.
  • At least 5 years’ experience, with 3 in product management for enterprise SaaS

Please note this is a US-based role.

In addition to base salary, this role is also eligible for a bonus opportunity.

CB Insights Leadership Principles

At CB Insights, everyone is expected to be a leader. These leadership principles are like an operating system for our culture. Use the principles as a practical guide to making decisions.
We are what we repeatedly do. By living the principles outlined below, we will build an outstanding company and do insanely great work.

  1. Solve customer problems. It’s our highest calling. Designing a product? Start from the customer problem it solves. Updating our sales process? Flip it around, and simplify the customer buying process.
  2. Think BIG! Start small. Great changes start with a first step. Find it. Take it. Build a system around what works. This is the secret to bringing a vision to life.
  3. Go and see with your own eyes. Meet the customer, use the product, talk to the field. Great systems aren’t built from afar.
  4. Priorities: Choose one. Leaders give the gift of clarity. They find the most important thing and do it. Max power. Top speed.
  5. Danger zones:
    • Bureaucracy. May the best ideas and execution win.
    • Complexity. Leaders use frameworks and systems to simplify.
    • No commitment. Leaders don’t compromise just to get along. Debate. Disagree. But once a decision is made, commit.
    • Leaving what’s important unsaid or undone. No “circling back.”
  6. Data informs. Insight transforms.  Pull the thread. Ask why. Leaders are curious. They use what they learn to create clarity.
  7. Insist on excellence. Leaders set high standards and overcome obstacles. They do the kind of work they’re excited to share with the world.
  8. Live off the land. Leaders creatively use resources already available to them – especially AI – to execute and automate their work.
  9. Good judgment. Leaders have it. Where it comes from: insight, listening, first-hand experience. How to apply it: carefully on big, hard to reverse decisions. Swiftly on limited, easy to reverse ones.
  10. Help others. Leaders know we’re building this together.
