We are a team working within IB&M driving innovation and adoption of the Beacon Platform. The Beacon Platform is a cloud based, accelerator supporting a large group of modelling, quantitative and application developers. We work in an agile environment making sure the environment is stable, secure and performant for our developers and end users that rely on Beacon for their day-to-day jobs. In addition, we work on projects that improve stability, add exciting new developer and end user features while also extending connectivity and integration to other CBA systems.
We’re growing our platform squad and are looking for an experienced or developing SRE to join our multidisciplinary squad.
We’re interested in hearing from people who:

Have experience leading and sharing your skills and experience across a team of diverse engineers

Demonstrated experience building and implementing a mature SRE capability

Can provide technical strategy and guidance, overseeing complex engineering initiatives

Drive the development of strategic programs of work, including proof of concept developments

Are comfortable working as team players and happy to take the time to perform peer design/ code reviews applying software reuse principles and developing creative solutions to debt management
-
Pride themselves on their knowledge and hands-on experience in Site Reliability, automation and toil elimination.

Have solid hands-on experience with process methodology, development methodologies (SRE, Agile, SDLC)

Drive the team under incidents in complex RCA and technical cause with an urgency on restoration of service and reducing customer impact

Are constantly demonstrating coding, design, debugging and problem-solving skills
-
Are knowledgeable of core business and technical strategies to deliver best business outcomes through technical implementation
-
Follow best practices and industry standards in the team
Identify, gain support for, and ensure execution of strategic direction in areas of expertise -
Contribute to internal online discussion around software engineering, delivery and technology (for example blog posts and knowledge base articles)
Tech skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

Strong experience in AWS cloud and Cloud infrastructure and architecture. Certified as an AWS Certified Solution Architect desirable

Strong knowledge in infrastructure principles and security considerations

Strong experience working with Linux EC2 instances with knowledge of services and shell commands
-
Experience in administering Relational and NoSQL DBs (eg Postgres and Mongo)

Python language knowledge
-
Serverless and microservice architecture
-
GitHub Enterprise Cloud, CI/CD using GitHub Actions
-
Strong experience implementing best practices for monitoring solutions. Specific knowledge on Prometheus for monitoring and Grafana for metrics desirable

Web services especially API Service (REST APIs) and automated testing
-
Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence)

Experience in the Beacon Platform (https://beacon.io) highly desirable, but not required
