The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology, and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security, and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53,000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.
You’ll be part of the CDAO (Chief Data and Analytics Office) team which is responsible for leading the delivery of world-class data, analytics, and technology capabilities to improve the financial well-being of our customers and communities. We’re in charge for CommBank’s key analytics capabilities and work to create world-leading capabilities for data analytics, information management and decisioning. We work across the AWS Cloud, Hadoop Big Data Platform, Analytics Workbench for Machine Learning, Pega Decisioning, SAS, R, Tableau, Oracle BI, Ab Initio.

Tech Skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. Building efficient data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and delivering analytics solutions that provide valuable insights are our main goals. With Technology rapidly evolving, we don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with most of these will set you up for success in this team:
AWS Cloud
Ideal Experience: Designing, building and deploying solutions in cloud infrastructure, understanding costs and ensuring security. Experience in Infrastructure-as-code tools.
Tools and Technologies: e.g. EC2, S3, Lambda, Glue, RDS, Redshift, CloudFormation, Terraform
Data Engineering Technologies
Ideal Experience: Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust real time/near real time data pipelines that support organizational data needs.
Tools and Technologies: e.g. Cloud Data Lake, Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Confluent Kafka.
Programming Languages
Ideal Experience: Senior level platform engineering skills with capability to enable the platform for self-serve and excellent problem-solving skills.
Tools and Technologies: Proficient in Java and SQL. Strong Python skills are an advantage. Knowledge on modern databases like Key-Value store, Vector store, Document Store etc.
Automation
Ideal Experience: Implementing best practices for automation and removal of manual control work. Automate security checks for CI/CD lifecycle to ensure new deployments are consistently secure.
Tools and Technologies: Proficient in Python scripting, Bash, or PowerShell to automate tasks, manage configurations and troubleshooting essential. Familiarity with Version control systems (Git) & CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins
AI & LLM Integration
Ideal Experience: Experience in LLM integration and Serving Frameworks. Deep understanding of API design best practices including security, versioning and documentation.
Tools and Technologies: RESTful APIs (GraphQL), Open Source LLM tech – LangChain, Langfuse, context management for LLM powered services e.g. MCP, RAG, prompt compression and selective context.
Additional Skills

Strong communication and collaboration skills to understand the requirements and identify potential automation opportunities to build the self serve platform.

Stay updated on latest developments in ever changing AI landscape

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

Experience in Banking Domain is a plus for understanding and working with industry specific challenges.
