SUMMARY
The Senior Payroll Specialist is a professional responsible for managing the organizations payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws and tax regulations. The Senior Payroll Specialist will act as primary lead for the Payroll Manager and be responsible for providing guidance to the payroll team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Payroll processing of bi-weekly payroll while supporting the activities of the payroll team.

Understand and direct regular payroll activities such as garnishments, taxes, time, and pay card program when needed.

Modify and build reports using date to support and inform management.

Maintain a high level of subject matter knowledge as it relates to FLSA, Overtime, and other payroll and time calculations and configurations.

Lead year-end to ensure a smooth year-end to provide accurate W2’s.

Audits payroll data, deductions and employee/employer taxes for accuracy.

Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll regulations.

Identify and implement in process improvement to enhance efficeincy and accuracy,

Crosstrain payroll team to process bi-weekly payroll and other payroll activities.

Audit and maintain funding for pay cards, tax remittances, vendor invoices, quarter and year end.

Lead with tax audits, reporting and reconciliations at the year end audit process.

Review and resolve payroll discrepancies and errors,

Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries.

Support Payroll Manager with annual audits such as Workers Compensation, tax credits, shadow payroll.

Protects the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.

QUALIFICATIONS
-
5-7 year's of payroll experience

Should have intermediate to advanced knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

Workday experience highly preferred.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of generally accepted Human Capital financial principles including but not limited to HR analytics.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
