The Gogo Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of LAN & WAN networks, including Cisco hardware and IOS maintenance, core services installation, and troubleshooting Satcom Direct Government and Gogo services. This role involves designing, installing, and optimizing network infrastructure across multiple locations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. The engineer also provides support for military and Gogo company personnel as needed.

How Will You Make a Difference? 

  • Network Architecture & Engineering: 

  • Develop technology roadmaps for SD TechOps network infrastructure

  • Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot network systems including Storage Area Networks (SAN) and SD TechOps Services Enclaves

  • Engineer private networks and supports military/government applications

  • Ensure high availability, redundancy, and scalability across SD Worldwide PoP Infrastructure (Amsterdam, Ashburn, Melbourne, New York, Honolulu, Sydney)

  • Lead infrastructure migrations, and re-engineering PoP infrastructure from third-party administration to SD TechOps control

  • Planning & Design: 

  • Create and maintain high- and low-level network design drawings

  • Manage large-scale IP Address Management (IPAM) for SD customer and provider networks

  • Research and evaluate new technologies for network enhancements and cost optimization 

  • Develop test plans and prototypes for proof-of-concept solutions

  • Plan and implement technical refreshes and upgrades

  • Manage budgets for network projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions

  • Procurement & Vendor Management: 

  • Manage procurement processes, vendor relationships, and cost negotiations

  • Create Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Requests for Quotes (RFQs) for network hardware/software

  • Oversee licensing, support contracts, and inventory tracking for network components

  • Installation & Configuration: 

  • Install, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and virtual systems

  • Ensure proper cabling and industry-standard rack layouts

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues efficiently 

  • Operations & Maintenance: 

  • Monitor network infrastructure, proactively addressing issues before they impact customers

  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for network events and emergencies

  • Maintain system documentation and logs network performance in Confluence and other tools

  • Conduct after-hours maintenance, risk analysis, and infrastructure upgrades

  • Security & Compliance: 

  • Implement and maintain network security policies, firewall configurations, and VPN solutions

  • Configure and troubleshoot authentication, authorization, and security hardening across network infrastructure

  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and monitors potential threats

  • Financial Strategy: 

  • Reduce CAPEX/OPEX expenditures through consolidation and optimization of network resources

  • Leverage vendor discounts and bulk purchasing strategies

  • Evaluate vendor sales recommendations to avoid unnecessary technology purchases

  • Training & Development: 

  • Stay updated on evolving network technologies through certifications, training, and vendor documentation

  • Mentor team members through technical training and knowledge-sharing sessions

Qualification 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience 

  • Cisco CCNP R&S and CCDP certifications are highly preferred 

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with network hardware and software 

Required Skills, Experience, and Talents 

  • Expertise in Cisco platforms (ISR, Nexus, ASR) and Palo Alto firewalls 

  • Proficient in LAN/WAN protocols including BGP, MPLS, OSPF, STP, and VXLAN 

  • Familiarity with Linux (CentOS/Red Hat) and network management systems 

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and network documentation tools 

 

Equal Pay Disclosure(s)

Base Pay:

112,000.00 - 140,000.00 USD Annual

Target Annual Short-Term Incentive:

Bonus Plan at 10% (% of Annualized Base Pay)
