We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. This is a regular full time permanent position.

Your role within the team

Assists the Manager Facilities Systems Engineering in leading, managing, and directing team efforts in support of business objectives as it relates to:

  • Prioritization and distribution of team member tasks and managing workload. Overseeing and coordinating design and compliance reviews and inspections to ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, regulations, specifications and requirements, including the Airport Construction Code.
  • Ensuring quality reviews are completed on time in coordination with all proposed renovations, alterations, maintenance work and new construction projects and program requirements.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to team as needed.
  • Collaborates, supports, and provides high level of customer service to the Planning & Engineering, Capital Delivery and Commercial Activation teams, and various key stakeholders including but not limited to Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Reviews, documents, and improves processes and workflows to eliminate inefficiencies and maximize team performance.
  • Develops pilot project(s) with funding proposals for new technologies, methodologies and advancements in mechanical systems design and construction to evaluate viability to reduce construction duration and operational interruptions. Coordinates SME assessments, reviews, and updates of standards and/or specifications.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the career development of staff.

The ideal candidate

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in large infrastructure programs in a mechanical or plumbing engineering position including 5 years in a management / leadership position. Aviation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing teams and assessing the competency requirements of the team.
  • Specific working knowledge of the design, construction, project management and maintenance of building, mechanical, industrial, and utility systems.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills including the ability to facilitate meeting / workshops with large groups of stakeholders. Demonstrable experience in managing senior stakeholder relationships and providing strategic level reporting to enable effective decision making. Strong technical capability in all project phases and ability to solve complex problems including by using data analytics to support solution identification.
