WHAT YOU’LL DO 

We are looking for an experienced educational leader who will be charged with overseeing the full continuum of our corps members’ experience, and contextualizing their leadership in service of our 2030 goal -- from the recruitment, selection, and matriculation of our incoming corps members’ to their preparation to be strong educators, specifically through an excellent pre-service experience; to our corps members’ ongoing classroom effectiveness and experience through a collaborative partnership with national program team members to ensure an impactful and transformative in-service program; to preparing 2nd year corps members for alumnihood.

You will co-manage a team of 3 Managing Directors, Leadership Development (MDLD), including through layers, to ensure excellence on all of the workstreams above. Along with our West Hub Program team, you will be the leader accountable for every student in our Corps Member (CM) classrooms receiving great teaching; for ensuring a strong CM culture rooted in our community; for developing and stewarding our 2nd year CMs as they become our alumni so that they are ready for leadership in key seats to supporting thriving schools and communities. You will also partner closely with our university and district partners to ensure aligned and effective strategies are implemented around placement and ongoing development and support.

 WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Lead Corps Member Impact Work Towards 2030 goal  (50%)

  • Co-Manage MDLDs and set short- and long-term vision for CM Impact & Experience alongside MDLDs and Senior Managing Director, Leadership Development (SMDLD)

  • Develop and implement  program, culture, and strategy plans, aligned to our focus on early literacy, in partnership with other staff to improve CM and student outcomes and reduce variability across our community

  • Act as the programmatic point of contact for our credentialing partner and ensure CMs are advancing in course-work and align programmatic efforts with university coursework

  • Act as the regional lead for building out a strategic ecosystem of supports CMs can leverage, including building relationships with district leaders to coordinate support efforts 

  • Partner with and/or manage national, regional, and part-time team members to ensure a best-in-class pre-service and summer practicum experience

  • Align with regional team on strategic school placement aligned with out 2030 goals

  • Create strategy & resources for MDLDs to steward school site relationships to ensure principals are satisfied w our CMs and program

  • Laterally manage MDLDs to support CMs in navigating partner challenges

  • Develop approaches to track progress towards our 2030 goals and other goals for impact

Support the recruitment, matriculation, and retention of CMs and Ignite Fellows  (40%)

  • Bring in a diverse corps of leaders each year in alignment with our regional goals

  • Cultivate strong relationships with recruitment team members; coordinate efforts across local and national staff to execute successful recruitment and matriculation campaigns

  • Maintain existing and develop new partnerships in service of our recruitment goals

  • Participate, lead, and/or serve as a thought leader in coalition efforts related to expanding and diversifying the teacher pipeline across Nevada and in Las Vegas

  • Serve as the region's co-captain of the matriculation campaign. 

  • Support interviewing, selection, and matriculation of incoming corps members

  • Provide bold leadership, innovative ideas, and a fresh perspective to our recruitment efforts to continue to grow our corps size year over year (may require travel within Nevada and to surrounding states)

Contribute to broader vision, mission, and culture and regional efforts (10%)

  • Engage in regional learning through attending meetings and professional development opportunities

  • Support Teach For America Nevada regional events

  • Support other efforts related to regional culture and special initiatives

  • Participate in org-wide activities and initiatives

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week,  the Senior Managing Director, Program will spend time collaborating with the Senior Managing Director, Learning and Development on strategic planning, supporting Managing Director, Learning and Development with Corps Member impact and experience as well as helping them access the regional ecosystem of supports you have spearheaded. You will spend time in the field and reviewing data to better understand the experience of students, Corps Members, and staff in order to help us to continuously improve and get to greater student impact. Both individually and in partnership with others you will develop and implement strategies to ensure that our programmatic efforts are coherent and aligned with our 2030 goals. During recruitment seasons you will collaborate and coordinate with other recruitment and matriculation team members to develop strategies and participate in recruitment efforts which may include attending various recruitment events, speaking to prospective Corps Members, leading recruitment team meetings, or implementing new strategies you have developed. Across both areas you will be working on stewarding partner relationships in service of ensuring student impact and a cohesive and effective Corps Member experience, from recruitment through entering alumnihood. 

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience, including teaching 

  • Preferred 3+ years of management experience

  • Strong instructional knowledge and an understanding of teacher development and coaching

  • You are a compelling communicator, and inspire others to action: experience working across organizational & institutional boundaries to achieve outcomes

  • Experience leading high-stakes external relationships independently

  • You believe deeply in the power of educators to disrupt systems that hold our students back from reaching their hopes and aspirations: able to lead in key spaces in crucial moments while always representing our core values

  • You are an experienced and successful manager and people leader, including through layers and across complex functions to outcomes, while maintaining a strong team culture

  • Experience designing and facilitating strong adult learning experiences

  • Ability to develop data systems and analyze data to improve strategies and outcomes

  • Developing and implementing innovative approaches to solve complex challenges

BONUS (preferred qualifications)

  • Early literacy expertise, including an in-depth understanding of the Science of Reading 

  • Experience as a instructional coach or administrator

  • Experience with teacher recruitment 

  • Knowledge of Nevada communities

YOUR COMPENSATION 

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary range for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Tier A:  $108,900 - $145,700
