About the role…

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Total Rewards to lead and evolve our compensation, equity, benefits, and people operations infrastructure. As the first hire fully dedicated to total rewards, you’ll play a foundational role in shaping how we attract, retain, and support elite talent across the company.


Responsibilities..

  • Lead Total Rewards Strategy: Own the design, execution, and evolution of our compensation philosophy, salary bands, benefits programs, and equity frameworks.
  • Be Our Equity Expert: Guide our equity programs from end to end — including modeling, education, and refresh grants — while serving as an internal resource on ISOs, NSOs, RSUs, and executive compensation.
  • Optimize Our People Tech Stack: Administer and improve our tools including Rippling (HRIS & Payroll), Carta (equity), John Hancock (401k), and external benefits providers — ensuring we’re working with the best partners at competitive rates.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Own payroll administration, compensation benchmarking, benefits enrollment, onboarding/offboarding, and leave-of-absence processes in collaboration with the Employee Experience team.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Lead bi-annual market reviews to ensure our total rewards remain competitive and aligned with business goals.
  • Ensure Compliance & Readiness: Partner with Legal and Finance to maintain compliance with local and federal laws, prepare equity documentation for board approvals, and ensure audit-readiness.
  • Educate & Empower: Communicate clearly and confidently with employees about equity, compensation, and benefits — making complex topics simple and engaging.


Your qualifications…

  • 5+ years in compensation and benefits roles, with strong startup experience and end-to-end ownership of total rewards programs.
  • Equity Fluency: Deep expertise in startup equity (ISOs, NSOs, RSUs, dilution, refreshes, board processes).
  • Systems-Oriented: Skilled in using tools like Rippling, Carta, and benefits platforms. You build with scale and clarity in mind.
  • Analytical & Detail-Driven: Strong command of data, benchmarking, and compliance. 
  • Builder’s Mindset: You’re energized by blank slates, evolving systems, and the opportunity to create foundational programs from the ground up.
  • People-First Communicator: You can translate equity math and comp strategy into plain English, building trust across levels and functions.

New York Pay Range

$125,000$150,000 USD
