How You Will Contribute:

The Senior Manager, Systems Integration leads a team of Systems Architects and Integration Specialists and reports to the Director Systems Architecture. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful integration of various technologies and features into our products. Your team will work within the Systems Architecture team to develop and execute systems verification plans. These test activities will be complementary to other test areas, with a focus on "whitebox" and "greybox" testing of complex features and system-level behaviours.

In this role, you will...

  • Be responsible for driving the team on various activities
  • Verify our products meet their system-level requirements, in particular ensuring the successful integration of coherent optical modem technology into our products
  • Work alongside Systems Architects to demonstrate proof-of-concept for new product features
  • Ensure the correct behaviour of client pluggable optics in our systems
  • Develop and execute validation test plans on complex system-level behaviours like network synchronization, datapath clock recovery / clock transients, product interop, and others
  • Drive investigations to root cause and ensuring issues are brought to resolution, both during new product introduction and over the lifespan of the product
  • Marshal the necessary cross-functional resources to debug complex problems 
  • Participate in the definition of system-level product requirements 
  • Manage the team's lab equipment, ensuring prioritization of resources and optimal utilization
  • Drive automation across all test areas and ensure centralized data collection and visibility, tracking trends and identifying potential issues
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Systems Integration team, with regular one on ones, coaching, and career development support

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams on complex issues
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience working in a lab environment, and setting up and using test equipment
  • Ability to effectively identify and solve problems

The Assets:

  • Formal management experience
  • Engineering degree
  • An understanding of coherent optical networks, photonics systems, and optical impairments
  • Python experience

Compensation and Benefits

The annual pay range for this position is $142,500 - $227,700


Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
