Reporting to the Director of Engineering at Stealth Venture, you will build and lead a new engineering team developing innovative clinical solutions for Spring Health’s provider network. You’ll collaborate with product, design, and clinical experts to create tools that elevate provider experiences and improve patient outcomes. In this high-visibility role, you’ll shape technical strategy, define roadmaps, and drive execution to transform mental healthcare. By combining exceptional leadership with a focus on impact, you will empower your team to streamline clinical workflows, enhance treatment efficacy, and foster meaningful patient-provider relationships.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and lead a new high-performing engineering team focused on developing evidence-based tools that help providers deliver more effective care, drive better patient outcomes, and advance Spring Health’s vision for Precision Mental Health.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, clinical experts, and data science to define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for clinical solutions.
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor software engineers, fostering professional growth, collaboration, and a mission-driven team culture.
- Provide technical guidance and ensure high-quality, timely project delivery, incorporating best practices in mental healthcare and population health.
- Drive execution across teams and organizations, aligning initiatives with broader clinical and strategic priorities.
- Develop your team through regular one-on-ones, mentorship, and constructive feedback, cultivating future engineering leaders.
- Ensure operational support by implementing processes for managing developer experience, technical debt, and healthcare compliance.
- Leverage emerging technologies, including AI, to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions that transform mental healthcare at scale.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- Launch the first iteration of new clinical decision support tools within two quarters, delivering measurable improvements in patient outcomes.
- Deliver market-leading usability and provider satisfaction (CSAT >4.5) for your clinical solutions.
- Maintain and enhance strong engineering practices—minimizing code churn, improving cycle time—while ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.
- Build scalable architectures that support future growth, rapid iteration, and seamless integration with the broader Spring Health ecosystem.
- Elevate engineering excellence by fostering an environment that values ownership, collaboration, and purposeful innovation.
Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years of experience managing and leading a high-output engineering team building user-facing products.
- 6+ years of experience building and scaling systems as an individual contributor.
- Organizational leadership experience, including collaborating with executive leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven success mentoring teams of senior engineers over multi-quarter or multi-year projects.
- Strong commitment to understanding and advocating for users’ needs, crafting exceptional healthcare experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-growth startup environments.
- Healthcare/clinical tech experience, building user-facing products that focus on evidence-based solutions.
- Proven ability to define roadmaps for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions.
- Adept at prioritizing business objectives, creating new areas of investment, anticipating risks, and providing deep technical expertise.
- Experience leading distributed teams across time zones.
- Familiarity with React, GraphQL, Ruby on Rails, or similar modern web technologies.
The target base salary range for this position is $179,100 - $240,405, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
