A day in the life of a Capital One SeniorManager, Privacy Compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Working with the Chief Privacy Officer, the Senior Manager, Privacy Compliance is responsible for the daily operation and administration of the Privacy Program;
- Communicating key regulatory developments and changes to all relevant stakeholders and assist with the implementation of necessary changes so Capital One Canada remains compliant;
- Serving as a privacy subject matter expert, advises business unit stakeholders on the application of federal and provincial regulatory requirements for new products, business initiatives and processes, including privacy impact assessments;
- Providing effective review and challenge to processes and results; driving customer-focused solutions;
- Liaising with relevant regulators, including the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, in order to respond to requests for information and notify of potential breaches of relevant regulations;
- Participating in any regulatory examinations and/or internal audits of the privacy program impacting Capital One Canada;
- Investigating and responding to any privacy requests, complaints and inquiries in accordance with Capital One's policies, standards, procedures and processes;
- Developing and document oversight of activities undertaken by the Enterprise Privacy team on behalf of Capital One Canada;
- Assisting the Chief Privacy Officer on all matters related to the privacy framework and mandate;
- Assisting the Chief Privacy Officer in establishing written policies and procedures regarding privacy for Capital One Canada in compliance with Canadian regulations and Capital One Enterprise policies;
- Supporting the development and delivery of privacy training to business unit stakeholders;
- Understanding expectations from external entities, such as auditors and regulators, and partner with first line leadership on ensuring compliance;
- Supporting the development and delivery of privacy training to business unit stakeholders; and
More details on the scope of the position:
- Identifying emerging regulatory risks;
- Driving changes to ensure risks are appropriately mitigated and compliance oriented processes remain effective;
- Ensuring associates remain current on regulatory changes, and provide effective business support and challenge;
- Ensuring effective development, management, and execution of all applicable aspects of the privacy program for Capital One Canada, including system of record governance, applicability of laws and regulations, oversight of business implementation of new laws and regulations, and support of Issue and Event management;
- Managing communications with Canadian Compliance regulators where needed and convey and/or coordinate positions on Compliance regulatory issues to the regulatory community as well as internally; and
- Performing other related work , as assigned, by the Chief Compliance Officer or other Compliance leaders within Enterprise Compliance.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors' Degree
- At least 7 years of experience working experience in compliance, risk management, or a legal role within a financial institution
- At least 5 years of experience working in the field of Privacy;
- At least 7 years of experience working with Canadian banking legislation, laws, industry standards, and regulations as they apply to the financial services sector;
- Proven record of innovation and process improvements; and
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile, work environment with an ability to influence others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CIPP(C) / CIPM designation or equivalent
- At least 3 years of experience working with audit and regulatory exams
