Who You Are

Justworks is seeking an exceptional Senior Manager, People Operations to act as the operational cornerstone of our People team, driving excellence and fostering an environment where employees can grow, thrive, and feel seen. Beyond managing processes and programs, this role is about creating transformational experiences, setting the gold standard for operational excellence, and shaping the future of how we support and connect with our Justworkers.

As the Senior Manager, People Operations, you will lead a team committed to delivering innovative and scalable solutions across the employee lifecycle. From revolutionizing onboarding to streamlining operations and implementing strategic initiatives, you’ll play a pivotal role in creating an environment that attracts, retains, and inspires top talent.

Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work OnLeadership & Strategic Impact

  • Serve as a key leader within the People team, fostering collaboration and alignment with the broader vision.
  • Position People Operations as a business-facing CoE and elevate its profile and service levels.
  • Inspire, coach, and develop a high-performing team of People Operations Coordinators, Specialists, and Team Leads, cultivating a culture of excellence, ownership/accountability, and continuous growth.
  • Partner with leadership to shape People Operations into a strategic enabler of organizational success, aligning operations with our mission to empower employees and foster belonging.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the People Operations Service Desk (e.g. Jira), ensuring prompt resolution of inquiries, adherence to SLAs, and the delivery of high-quality support across payroll, benefits, and employee lifecycle needs.
  • Own and optimize the administration of benefits programs, time off policies, and compliance initiatives, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and a seamless employee experience.
  • Lead efforts to simplify processes, remove friction, and create scalable systems that align with our "simplify and measure" pillar.

Best-in-Class Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Reimagine the onboarding experience to make it a flagship program that inspires and engages new hires from day one, accelerating their integration and impact to Justworks.
  • Design and implement innovative onboarding tools, training, and touchpoints that reflect Justworks' values and support long-term retention.
  • Lead initiatives to continuously enhance the employee experience, leveraging insights from engagement surveys and listening strategies to adapt and evolve.
  • Establish and track People Operations KPIs to measure impact

Workday & Systems Collaboration

  • Lead the operational management of Workday (HCM, Benefits, Time Tracking, Time Off etc), driving automation, scalability, and a frictionless employee experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement changes that support global expansion, compliance, and local policy needs.
  • Collaborate closely with People Systems team to aim higher with our Workday investment.

Driving Growth & Alignment

  • Support leadership in implementing a high-performance framework, contributing to a culture that enables employees and the business to grow.
  • Partner on strategic initiatives such as job architecture and organizational alignment reviews to ensure clarity and adaptability in structures and career paths.
  • Build and refine People Operations SOPs to promote consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in People Operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in scaling People Operations functions, optimizing onboarding and employee lifecycle processes, and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Expert in core HR competencies, also with a global perspective. Proven experience/knowledge in pay and benefits administration/support within an international organization strongly preferred
  • Experience with HRIS platforms, particularly Workday, with a focus on driving innovation and process improvements.
  • Visionary leadership with the ability to align operational priorities with organizational goals.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, capable of executing complex initiatives and managing competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills, with experience leveraging metrics to measure impact and identify opportunities.
  • Passion for fostering an inclusive and empowering environment where employees can thrive.
  • Commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative, open, and values-driven, embodying Justworks' vision and mission in every interaction.

The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $155,500 to $178,825 per year.

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location.  Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
