The Role
There has never been a more exciting opportunity for a Sr. Manager to lead the Global Automation Standards & Cybersecurity team as we launch our future vehicles. The individual will enable the Manufacturing Engineering organizations to achieve flawless program execution as inclusive automation strategies are developed. The individual will be involved with setting the direction for our next generation of new manufacturing technologies and will lead in executing the future electric vehicle build strategy. The Senior Manager is responsible for executing new and current automation standards including controls, robotics, vision, and plant floor systems. Staffing and establishing the right people in right places will be critical to the automation team's success.
What You Will Do

  • Manage the execution of Global Automation Standards & Cybersecurity for Product Program Launches
  • Drive an inclusive culture and execute various workplace of choice initiatives which focuses on engagement, employee recognition, and development
  • Staffing and management of the Global Automation Standards & Cybersecurity teams including planning, integration, validation, and product ionization responsibilities
  • Manage Global Automation Standards & Cybersecurity Program and departmental budgets
  • Develop automation technical bench strength and align resource plan to execute future vehicle launches
  • Support GPS, Press, BIW, Paint and GA execution and process development teams as they create new iterations of the BoE for specific program/pant launches
  • Drive innovations and lean design in automation solution space
  • Execute scalable automation solutions to enable cost effective manufacturing.
  • Incorporate lessons learned during execution of Product Program launches into future launches
  • Collaborate with IT to deliver all required plant floor systems (PFS) during the launches
  • Work with IT on PFS launch portfolio planning, prioritizing resources based on business needs
  • Pilot and execute new technology application solutions for GPS, Stamping, Body, Paint, & GA.
  • Drive common vehicle and GPS execution and cybersecurity standards
  • Enhance global workshare in automation
  • Provide support for Strategic Suppliers with Automation build, validation, and execution as required and help drive the GM Standards and drive cybersecurity
  • Support Plant NPP activities as required
  • Support shutdown activities as required

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Strategic and Commercial Orientation - The candidate should demonstrate a high level of technical aptitude and innovation mindset. He/she must understand industry trends and core technologies involved in manufacturing systems and must be capable of making decisions and setting directions to enable successful launches. The senior leader needs to have a strong fiscal mindset toward Company financial results.
  • Team Leadership - The candidate should demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and managerial courage required to lead a large group of managers and engineers to deliver business results all while demonstrating and living by GM behaviors.
  • Results Orientation - The candidate must have extensive knowledge of vehicle manufacturing processes and operations with in-depth knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering roles and responsibilities as well as automation organization and processes to deliver exceptional results on a consistent basis.
  • People Development - The candidate must have prior engineering supervisory experience with a minimum of 10 years' experience in Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering. Some key experiences are in program execution, engineering design and build and project management. Plant production, and maintenance experiences are preferred. These experiences will help the candidate in developing the team long-term capabilities for success.
  • Change Leadership - The candidate must be comfortable with constant change and change management to be able to drive transformation and help align and move the organization forward towards new and challenging directions.
  • Customer Focus - The candidate must be able to work with the respective centers and suppliers to ensure the automation organization aligns and delivers solutions that will enable operation to achieve successful launches. The candidate must be willing to help the plants during steady state and help orchestrate solutions to concerns raised on a timely and efficient manner.
  • Market Knowledge - The candidate needs to be able to look beyond their own area and understand the competition and work to move the business forward be it with suppliers, within the centers, or operations all with an end goal of creating a detailed forward looking plan.
  • Travel - Must be able to travel domestically and internationally
  • Education - Engineering bachelor's degree with Master's degree in manufacturing/Business/Engineering being preferred
