Senior Manager Engineering

In the Observability product area, we are building solutions that enable data-driven decision-making and support the development of observable systems. Observability Engineering focuses on building systems that help to: ​ 

• Swiftly and confidently ship new code. ​ 

• Identify outliers and aberrant behaviors. ​ 

• Understand user behavior. ​ 

• Understand cost drivers during development and operation. ​ 

THE ROLE 

The SimCorp Dimension product was originally designed for running on-premises with clients, utilizing hardware resources being available 24/7. As we are moving our business model towards being a SaaS provider and based on Microsoft Azure, we need to re-implement our core platform to be efficient on dynamic Azure infrastructure and with a relentless focus on the cost of compute and on storage.  

As an engineering manager you will be referring to the Director of Engineering and responsible for building up and leading 2 software development teams and implement efficient development processes together with other teams and locations.  

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 

- You are the leader of 2 teams of Software Engineers with responsibility for hiring, growing, and upskilling your team through 1:1s, feedback, mentoring, coaching, and goal setting 

- Leading the teams in collaboration with the product owner and ensuring that features are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. 

- Identifying and mitigating risks to features and teams and making sure that any problems that arise are addressed quickly and effectively. 

- Facilitate agile team processes and events as well as help remove impediments that block the team’s work. 

- Collaborating with other managers, tech leads, PO’s and teams across the organization to ensure that the team’s work is integrated with other business functions and is contributing to the overall success of the company. 

- You understand and define relevant engineering KPIs to gain insight into your team’s performance and to help drive improvement, for example in product quality, security, delivery, system performance etc. 

- Staying up to date with the latest developments in engineering and technology, and advising the organization on new tools, techniques, and strategies that can improve engineering processes and outcomes. 

Overall, an engineering manager plays a crucial role in leading and guiding the teams within SimCorp, ensuring that teams are completed successfully and that the team is well-positioned to support SimCorp’s goals and objectives. 

WHAT WE VALUE 

• Experience in leading agile teams through different kinds of events – feedback, coaching and guidance, and in particular in an agile way and a continuous improvement mindset. ​ 

• Experience as a people manager with direct reports: 1:1’s, performance- and salary talks. 

• Working knowledge of Telemetry in production environments would be nice. ​ 

• Experience in or interest in Observability Engineering. ​ 

• Significant experience working in software engineering. ​ 

• Data-driven decision making.  

• You are an engineer at heart, with a passion for improving things – whether that is people, processes, or technology. ​ 

• ​You have a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or similar. ​ 

• Experience working in an international setting with people from many different cultures. ​

• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (speaking and writing).
