The Senior Leave Specialist will oversee the leave programs, offering expert support to employees and managers while ensuring compliance with all relevant policies. This role includes managing a Leave Associate, oversight of the day-to-day leave processes, and driving continuous improvement within the team. The Senior Leave Specialist is responsible for data analysis and integrity in Workday, recommending policy and procedural updates to enhance both internal support and vendor management. This role requires a compassionate, detail-oriented individual skilled in managing sensitive cases and collaborating with Strategic Talent Partners, Legal, Benefits, and Payroll teams to ensure effective leave management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exemplifies characteristics of The BAYADA Way: compassion, excellence, and reliability.
- Four (4) year Bachelor’s degree
- 4-6 years of experience in leave management, HR, or a similar field, with in-depth knowledge and understanding of FMLA, ADA, State Disability programs, Paid Family/Medical Leave programs, and other applicable leave programs and regulations.
- Experience with third-party leave administrator.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop direct reports, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- HRIS software proficiency; Workday experience is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage complex, sensitive cases and provide compassionate employee support.
- Proven organizational and multitasking abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to derive insights into improved leave management practices.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate and communicate the core values of BAYADA and The BAYADA Way.
- Develop working knowledge of BAYADA’s mission, services, people, organization, policies, and procedures.
- Support in managing all leave programs (e.g., FMLA, ADA, disability), ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and company policies. Serve as the escalation point for complex claims, guiding employees and managers for a timely, accurate resolution.
- Provide support to Leave Associate, addressing inquiries and guiding leave options for employees and managers.
- Facilitate smooth transitions back to work through ongoing communication with employees on leave and their managers.
- Develop and maintain training materials, guides, and resources on leave policies and processes.
- Assist with generating reports to analyze leave trends, support strategic planning, and assist with developing dashboards for claims visibility.
- Coordinate leave claims data with third-party administrators for Workday system accuracy.
- Manage benefits while on leave processes such as communication and reporting.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process enhancements for efficiency in leave management.
- Supervise and mentor the Leave Associate, setting development goals and conducting performance reviews.
- Demonstrate solid performance or exceed performance standards in key job dimensions/attributes as defined on the Performance Appraisal for Office Staff.
- Perform related duties, or as required or requested by leadership.
