Highly skilled Senior Kubernetes Engineer with over 7 years of hands-on experience in deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications in Kubernetes environments. Proven track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure, with a deep understanding of microservices architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and automation using tools like Helm, Terraform, and Docker. RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.

Design, implement, and manage large-scale Kubernetes clusters across multiple environments (development, staging, production) and across multiple clusters to ensure high availability, security, and reliability.

Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment, testing, and monitoring of containerized applications in Kubernetes using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or other relevant tools.

Collaborate with development teams to optimize containerized applications, ensuring efficient resource utilization and performance in production.

Build and maintain Helm charts, Kubernetes operators, and custom controllers to enhance infrastructure automation and management.

Monitor Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications, employing tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack for proactive issue resolution and performance optimization.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Kubernetes environments, network configurations, and distributed systems.

Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices for container orchestration and container image management.

Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes manifests.

Lead the migration of legacy and traditional applications, as well as Docker workloads, into Kubernetes environments, ensuring smooth transitions, minimal downtime, and optimized resource utilization.

Mentor and guide junior engineers on Kubernetes best practices, architectural design, and troubleshooting techniques.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure engineering, or site reliability engineering (SRE), with a focus on Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.

Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA) or Kubernetes Certified Application Developer (CKAD) (preferred).

Hands-on experience with Kubernetes Management Platforms (such as Rancher, OpenShift, etc.)
-
Demonstrated expertise in deploying and managing Kubernetes in production environments, including scaling, monitoring, and securing clusters.

Proven experience with cloud-native technologies, including Docker, Helm, Istio, and Prometheus.
-
Extensive experience in implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines, preferably in a microservices-based environment.
-
Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible.

Experience working with both public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on-premise VMware infrastructure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, including clusters, nodes, pods, and services.

Knowledge of cloud-native application patterns, including microservices, serverless computing, and container orchestration.

Understanding of distributed systems principles, network policies, and service discovery in Kubernetes.

Knowledge of security best practices in Kubernetes, including RBAC, network policies, image scanning, and secret management.

Strong proficiency in Kubernetes management, including cluster provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Go) for automation and tool creation.

Expertise in managing CI/CD pipelines and automation tools like Jenkins, GitHub, or ArgoCD.

Skilled in container image management and optimization (e.g., Docker, Harbor).

Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Fluentd).

Familiarity with container runtimes like Docker, containerd, and CRI-O.

Ability to design, deploy, and maintain high-performance Kubernetes clusters at scale.

Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across the entire stack, from networking to application layer, in containerized environments.

Ability to work cross-functionally with developers, security teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of cloud-native applications.

Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes and implement scalable solutions.

Experience with Rancher for managing Kubernetes clusters across multiple environments, simplifying deployment, and improving operational efficiency.

Familiarity with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd) for managing microservice-to-microservice communication, observability, and security in distributed applications.

Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies in Kubernetes, including snapshot-based backups, disaster recovery planning, and ensuring data consistency and availability in case of failures.

Proficient in version control systems like Git, including Git workflows (e.g., GitFlow), branching strategies, and integration with CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.

Experience working within Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) for iterative development, continuous improvement, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
