Position SummaryChord Energy is seeking an experienced Joint Interest Billing (“JIB”) and Accounts Receivable ("AR") accountant to join the JIB/AR group to support the Operations Accounting Department. This position reports to the Accounting Supervisor and is located in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience. Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with monthly Joint Interest Billing process 
  • Process monthly working interest changes and rebills
  • Review and resolve working interest owner aging receivable balances
  • Apply cash received to outstanding accounts receivables
  • Address owner inquiries related to receivable balances
  • Prepare and record journal entries for monthly close
  • Prepare account reconciliations
  • Identify and assist in implementation of process improvement projects
  • Train and mentor less experienced team members
  • Handle and/or assist with special projects or other accounting related assignments as requested
  • Other duties include but not limited to:
    • Maintain SOX controls, policies and procedures related to specific job duties
    • Coordinate and lead external audit/internal audit/legal/business development requests, as needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related degree
  • 8 years of oil and gas accounting experience
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to create and/or improve processes
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Develop a relationship and communicate effectively with various areas of the organization
  • Understanding of US GAAP and experience in GAAP accounting research
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong time management & multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy
  • Flexible with the demands of a growing company
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
