As a Tulip Web Developer you’ll play a vital role in building and maintaining our web properties. You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, product/product marketing, design, and marketing to optimize Tulip.co, Library.tulip.co, and other web assets. You’ll work with a variety of web technologies including Craft CMS, Payload CMS, React, Remix.js, NextJS and more. You will collaborate on quarterly and annual planning, roadmapping, and wireframe testing.

What skills do I need?

  • Proficiency in Front-End Technologies:
    • 5+ years of expertise in HTML5, CSS3 (including preprocessors like SASS/LESS), and JavaScript/TypeScript.
    • Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries, specifically React
    • Understanding of Tailwind CSS or other utility-first CSS frameworks.
    • Experience JAM stack and headless CMSs is a plus
    • Experience with  frameworks like NextJS, Nuxt.js is a plus
  • CMS Expertise
    • 5+ years of experience with PHP, JavaScript CMSs such as Craft CMS or Payload CMS
      • Templating and content modeling.
      • Understanding GraphQL, RESTful APIs, Node.js-based APIs.
      • Leveraging headless CMS capabilities with React or other UI frameworks.
  • Experience w/ contemporary SaaS platform development & ecommerce:
    • Experience in working with public infrastructure providers such as AWS or equivalent
  • Tooling and Collaboration:
    • Proficiency with modern build tools like Webpack, Vite, or Parcel.
    • Proficient with Git and platforms like GitHub for version control.
    • Collaborative experience using project management tools like Jira, Trello, or Asana.
  • Responsive Design and Accessibility:
    • Strong understanding of responsive web design principles and mobile-first development.
    • Knowledge of WCAG and accessibility best practices is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.
    • Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams such as designers and product managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Web Development:
    • Develop high-quality, reusable components using modern JavaScript frontend libraries (e.g., React)
    • Build and maintain user-facing features with performance, scalability, and accessibility in mind.
  • CMS Integration:
    • Craft: Design and implement custom templates and themes in Twig
    • Payload: Create custom collections, fields, and hooks in Payload CMS.
    • Work with designers and stakeholders to transform wireframes and mockups into functional, CMS-integrated front-end solutions.
  • API and Headless CMS Implementation:
    • Integrate Payload or Craft CMS as headless backends with front-end frameworks like Remix.js and Next.js.
    • Set up and manage GraphQL or REST APIs for content retrieval.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with UI/UX designers to ensure design fidelity and a seamless user experience.
  • Code Maintenance and Quality Assurance:
    • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
    • Perform code reviews and participate in QA processes to maintain high coding standards.
  • Performance and Accessibility:
    • Optimize front-end code for performance and SEO.
    • Ensure that all deliverables adhere to accessibility standards (WCAG compliance).
  • Problem Solving:
    • Debug and resolve issues efficiently.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance architecture or workflows.
