Role Overview
As a Senior Back-end Engineer on our Video Platform team, you will build and optimize complex systems that processes video content materials. This role focuses on solving problems at scale and driving efficiency through automation.
What You Will Do
- Develop, improve, automate, and support Coupang Play video platform.
- Building API-First video service and event-driven workflow system to interact with video streaming services.
- This is a hand-on technical role -- you are expected to write code, debug production issues, and automate solution at scale.
- Work on metric-driven technical improvements.
- Write technical documents, raise technical bar, and establish operational excellence.
Basic Qualifications
- Good coding competency in Golang, Node.js, Java, C/C++, Python or have similar experience.
- Solid knowledge of AWS managed services like S3, EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, Dynamodb, Cloudfront, and Route53, or equivalent services.
- Strong familiarity with the Twelve-Factor app development methodology.
- Experience with AWS Well-Architected framework, or equivalent framework.
- Strong experience with serverless architectures, event-driven systems and scaling microservices.
- Strong background in high-availability, scaling and disaster recovery.
- Those who have four years or more of work experience related to back-end engineering and are capable of system engineering with video applications or the latest tech stack.
Preferred Qualifications
- Those with OTT engineering experience in video distribution, contribution, and cloud-based video serving.
- Strong understanding of native and web video players for online video streaming.
- Good understanding of video and audio codecs like H.264, HEVC, AV1, AAC, and associated technologies like SCTE-35, HDR, RTMP/SRT, DASH-Widevine, and HLS-Fairplay.
- Familiarity with cost optimization strategies for AWS environments.
- Has experience creating and bringing digital products to production.
- Has experience leading a small engineering team.
- Experience with AWS Elemental Media service or similar cloud video media platforms.
