About the Team

We are looking for a curious and experienced Fullstack Engineer to join our Scale - Platform team. We believe that engineers shouldn’t need to choose between being productive and delivering business impact.

The Platform team is the backbone of our organization, driving the expansion and optimization of our platform to accommodate our growing user base. In the Engineering Enablement function, your role serves as a catalyst for empowering our engineering teams to innovate and excel. Our team plays a pivotal role in enabling our engineers to streamline their workflows, expedite product delivery, and foster a culture of continuous improvement & engineering excellence. By implementing best practices and open source standards, and facilitating knowledge sharing initiatives, the Engineering Enablement team empowers our engineers to tackle complex challenges with confidence and efficiency, ultimately driving the success and scalability of our platform. 

What you’ll do

  • Stay curious: Always on the lookout to keep our tech stack updated with current standards. 
  • Drive roadmap execution: translate our internal tools and engineering enablement vision into a concrete roadmap for development and implementation.
  • Build world-class technical tools: architect, develop, test, and deploy extensively used internal tools and pipelines using technologies tailored to our organization's needs. Our tech stack includes JavaScript (ES6/React), Python (Django), Node.js/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and AWS.
  • Leave it better than you found it: ship high-impact high-quality, and thoroughly tested code. Recognize and address bottlenecks swiftly through iterative improvements, and uphold a high standard of quality through meticulous code reviews. 
  • Embrace Ownership: Take full ownership of areas you own or contribute to from start to finish. We own everything from day-day development CLIs, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, debugging, testing and telemetry tools.
  • Be a team player: Collaborate with teams on planning and designing scalable systems that are secure and reliable. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to fellow engineers, fostering a positive and inclusive culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our Engineering Enablement team in Platform Engineering. In this role, you’ll have the agency to improve engineering challenges while working with a team of missionary builders.

  • You enjoy being a strong generalist and are not tied down to a specific programming language or function of our code repo.
  • You appreciate and value clear, frequent and quality communication
  • You’re experience in architecting, developing and shipping complex, high quality tooling that has a direct impact to the engineering experience
  • You’re a driver of foundations and standards for engineering solutions across Alloy products and infrastructure
  • You’re an autonomous and supportive engineer for teammates who are faced with new challenges
  • You like working across a breadth of developer stack, system architectures and technologies, cross collaborating with teams, and growing professionally
  • You are ready to dive into problems, and own key systems and deliver on quality scalable solutions
  • You appreciate the value of analyzing, benchmarking and optimizing tools using data and direct feedback from engineers.
  • You love solving for and collaborating with developers and engineering teams.

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience in a productionalized environment as a software engineer, preferably in hyper-growth startups or fast-paced companies.
  • Strong understanding of system design and architecture principles, with the ability to drive technical projects from conception to implementation.
  • Experience leading full-stack technical projects and building internal tools, with a focus on prioritizing developer experience and facilitating technical decisions across engineering teams
  • Comfortable learning new languages to solve problems, with proficiency in Node.js (primary language), React/Django/Python framework (for Alloy dashboard stack), PostgreSQL/Elasticsearch (data stores), AWS (basic understanding), Docker (container management), Python and shell scripting (console tools).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively on engineering teams, with strong adaptability to meet the needs of a rapidly-evolving product and growth-oriented environment.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in Fintech or the financial services industry, providing additional context for relevant domain knowledge.
  • Familiarity with open-source development tools, showcasing a broader understanding of industry standards and best practices.
  • Bonus points for previous experience in owning or maintaining test infrastructures, highlighting a commitment to ensuring code quality and reliability.

This position has a minimum base salary of $184,000 and a midpoint base salary of $216,000. The base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for equity awards in the form of stock options (ISOs).
