Job Description:
The Sun Life Health (SLH) Expense Management Team play a vital role in providing financial advice and support to Sun Life Health leaders identifying risks and opportunities to drive expense optimization and recommending corrective actions to ensure Sun Life Health leaders are executing against their financial goals and strategies.
This highly visible role is a key member of the Sun Life Health Expense Management Team accountable for expense reporting, forecasting, deep dive analysis and value-added insights as well as supporting strategic and annual planning and various expense initiatives.
The Senior Financial Analyst reporting to the Manager will be responsible for the completion of the monthly and quarterly expense reporting including leading the month-end close activities and preparing consolidated summaries with deep dive analysis to present key highlights, risks and opportunities to senior leaders. This role will also be involved in forecasting, budgeting, strategic and business planning, various ad hoc analysis and expense related initiatives.
What will you do?

Lead and support reporting, forecasting, deep dive analysis and value-added insights on SLH operating expenses

Lead month-end close activities and collaborate with functional teams and support areas in analysis for value added insights on consolidated operating expense results

Manage monthly review meetings with functional leaders including preparing materials to effectively communicate results

Partner with functional leaders and support areas on rolling forecasts

Support strategic and annual planning and budgeting processes

Build and maintain strong and effective partnerships with key stakeholders across the business and in support areas

Support various ad hoc analysis and expense related initiatives as required
What do you need to succeed?

Financial designation (CPA, CFA)

Superior analytical and critical thinking skills

Strong attention to detail

Strong prioritization, organization and time-management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities

Strong PC skills (MSOffice Suite, SharePoint, SAP, Hyperion, Tableau)
Preferred:

5+ years of work experience in the Insurance or Financial Services Industry

Experience in financial planning, reporting, forecasting and deep dive analysis

Experience communicating and presenting to leaders

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and within a team

Knowledge of IFRS 17 and expense segmentation

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
