Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Controllership team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is crucial in maintaining accurate and compliant accounting records for the EDF Renewables South Africa group. You will collaborate closely with the FP&A and Project Finance teams to deliver reliable financial information, ensuring compliance with IFRS and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and Reporting:

• Prepare and review accounting entries, including Treasury, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger.
• Review and approve payment journals, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Perform impairment tests, reserve, and provisioning calculations in line with IFRS.
• Oversee month-end, half-year, and year-end close activities.
• Analyse financial actuals for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist with external and internal audits and support financial statement preparation.

Tax and Compliance:

• Prepare VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax, and Deferred Tax reconciliations.
• Support SARS tax audits and corporate compliance reporting.

Systems and Controls:

• Maintain the integrity of financial systems and internal controls.
• Develop and document business processes and procedures.

Cross-Departmental Support:

• Provide financial insights and reporting to various departments, including Construction, Asset Management, and ESG/ED teams.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

• Ensure compliance with HSE standards and implement risk mitigation measures.

Qualifications and Certifications:

• Education: BCom Accounting degree or equivalent.
• Professional Certification: Professional Accountant (SA), SAICA Certified AGA(SA), or equivalent.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a certified accountant in South Africa.

Technical Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax regulations.
• Proficient in ERP software and financial systems.
• Solid commercial and business awareness.

Behavioural Competencies:

• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Effective prioritisation and time management to meet deadlines.
