The opportunity

This position sits within the Financial Accounting Operations Team for QBE Australia Pacific. This team has responsibility for the financial operations of Commercial Lines, Credit Lines and Management Services business units (BU’s).

Your new role

As an accounting professional, you will:

• Manage month-end close process, liaising with finance business partners

• Use system tools to action and finalise monthly & quarterly reconciliations

• Support the interim & year-end audit, being a point of contact for your BU’s

• Review and authorise journals and other work prepared by finance support staff

• Prepare ad hoc financial reports

• Provide input to the Finance department strategy, assisting the Financial Controller

• Foster a positive & effective working relationship with finance staff including offshore support

• Ensure adherence of QBE and regulatory risk and compliance requirements

• Other tasks to ensure the smooth running of QBE’s financial operations

About you

Ideally, you will be a qualified CA with an understanding of the complexities a large organisation.  If you are a qualified CPA with sufficient work experience in a similar environment, we would still love to hear from you. Other criteria to be eligible to apply include:

• Prior experience working within Insurance or Financial Services

• Expert skills in spreadsheets, data analysis and reconciliation procedures

• Strong stakeholder management experience including onshore and offshore colleagues

• Experience across many finance systems and platforms

• Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong problem-solving skills to deal with the issue encountered

• Happy to work closely with senior finance members to take on further responsibilities and grow your skillset
