Freese and Nichols seeking an experienced Sr. Environmental Scientist in Fort Worth, TX. You will work in our Fort Worth office which is focused on providing A/E services to public sector clients including municipalities, counties, water management districts, state agencies, and federal agencies. You will be supported by environmental professionals in offices outside of Fort Worth. As a seller/doer, your goal will be to identify, pursue, win and manage environmental projects and help Freese and Nichols build an environmental team in Fort Worth to execute that work.
Qualified candidates will have established client relationships with public agencies in the water and/or transportation sectors and private clients. You should also have expertise in some combination of:
- Section 404 Clean Water Act Permitting and supporting services, endangered and threatened species management, environmental impact assessment and preparation of documentation required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other ecological services in inland and coastal environments
- Working knowledge and relationships with federal and state regulatory agency staff operating in Florida including agencies such as the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers districts
Responsibilities include:
- Performing in a lead role for marketing the firm’s water resources and environmental capabilities of existing clients and to prospective clients. Preparing and/or reviewing the technical elements of proposals including scope, implementation, and manpower projections
- Supervising assigned project personnel (environmental scientists, engineers, hydrologist, planners, technicians, and support staff), either directly or indirectly
- Completing quality projects within established budgets and time schedules that meet the client’s needs
- Performing independent studies in the area of state-of-the-art techniques to provide the firm with new design and project evaluation capabilities. Prepare reports and data for internal use.
- Planning, scheduling, and directing staff members assigned to studies and investigations. Defining tasks to be accomplished independently by others. Providing general supervision, direction, and final review.
- Providing guidance and technical advice to those assigned to the project. Evaluating performance, implementing corrective actions, and providing professional staff development.
- Serving as technical advisor to project scientists, engineers, and planners regarding project problems. Providing special expertise and experience where necessary.
- Researching and/or investigating complex or unique natural resources challenges to advance the state-of-the-art within the firm
- Advising the Group Manager of the skills, techniques, and aids available to expand departmental capabilities
- May serve as Project Manager for the most technically complex problems
Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or other applicable field
- 10+ years' experience
- Ability to utilize software including Microsoft Office products
- Experience with technical and professional writing, preparation of fee proposals for professional services, and the ability to conduct presentations at public and client meetings
