• Job Description for Database Administrator (DBA) with MS SQL, Oracle, and SQL Server Expertise Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator with expertise in MS SQL, Oracle, and SQL Server to manage, maintain, and optimize our database systems. The DBA will ensure database availability, performance, security, and compliance while supporting business and technical teams with database-related needs. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of database technologies. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: Database Management: • Install, configure, and manage databases, including MS SQL Server, Oracle, and other SQL-based systems. • Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations across environments. • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries and indexes. Backup and Recovery: • Implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. • Conduct regular database backups and recovery tests to validate processes. • Develop disaster recovery plans and perform failover testing. Performance Tuning and Optimization: • Analyze database performance metrics and address bottlenecks. • Optimize database schemas, queries, and stored procedures to improve performance. • Implement and manage indexing strategies and partitioning for large datasets. Security and Compliance: • Enforce database security policies, including user access control, encryption, and auditing. • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards, such as GDPR or HIPAA. • Monitor and respond to security vulnerabilities and threats. Collaboration and Support: • Work closely with development teams to design efficient database structures and support application development. • Provide technical support for database-related issues and queries. • Document database architecture, processes, and best practices for knowledge sharing. Automation and Scripting: • Develop and maintain automation scripts for database maintenance tasks using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools. • Automate monitoring, backups, and deployments to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency. ________________________________________ Required Skills and Expertise: Technical Skills: • Proficient in MS SQL Server, Oracle, and other relational database management systems (RDBMS). • Strong knowledge of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling. • Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers. • Familiarity with database performance tuning tools and techniques. • Experience with database backup, recovery, and replication strategies. • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell. • Understanding of database monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Redgate, or Oracle Enterprise Manager.
