Job Summary

The Sr. Employee Relations Specialist will conduct complex employment policy workplace investigations and serve as an expert-level consultant, advisor and practitioner on ER issues and projects across GAF. Reporting to the Manager-Employee Relations, you will partner closely with the HR organization, Corporate and Operations management, and the Employment Legal team in working ER issues and investigations. This job prioritizes and has high emphasis on all aspects of workplace investigations including planning, conducting, writing full documentation including formal investigation report, updating key partners and stakeholders and recommending/supporting the administration of disciplinary consequences, training, organizational changes or other resolutions. This role will investigate reports across various GAF business lines including manufacturing operations.

This role is remote and can sit anywhere within the U.S.

Essential Duties

  • Identifies, analyzes and implements resolutions to complex and highly sensitive ER issues, including unusual situations where precedents for resolution are unavailable.
  • Conducts investigations in partnership with Legal counsel stemming from issues raised in agency charges or demand letters.
  • Completes detailed, accurate and complete investigation documentation including issue confirmation, interview notes, investigation summaries, investigation results memos, etc.
  • Prepares and presents investigation findings in appropriate formats based on the audience.
  • Creates and maintains thorough and complete electronic investigation files
  • Consistently enters and updates case details in ER’s case management system
  • May participate in projects as an ER Investigations subject matter expert.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to the HR team and business on employee relations
  • Develops and delivers training and coaching methods in partnership with the Employee Relations Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Under This Roof We Require:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) from an accredited university required and relevant employee relations work experience
  • 5+ years proven ability conducting workplace investigations, including experience investigating complex Title VII/EEO policy matters
  • Experienced workplace investigator with a familiarity in manufacturing and union-represented environments
  • Experienced ER professional with a proven competence and understanding of employee relations in a manufacturing organization 
  • Experience prioritizing and conducting complex workplace investigations
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal employment law and regulations
  • Ability to create thorough investigation documentation, and the ability to present information and influence decisions
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Work independently with little supervision
  • Work effectively with others in a remote environment
  • Employ extremely high levels of discretion
  • Exhibit exceptional integrity, confidentiality and privacy while building the necessary trust within all levels of GAF
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide appropriate supervision and follow up to department staff

Travel Requirements: Less than 20%

Consideration will be given based on geography, candidate experience, and qualifications.

Annual Salary Range: 99,000-126,500
