Are you ready to take the lead in complex, high-impact engineering projects within the UK's most critical infrastructure sectors? At Assystem Energy & Infrastructure Ltd (AEIL), we're looking for a Senior Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to strengthen our growing EC&I business.
This is your opportunity to step into a pivotal role - working at the forefront of Nuclear Decommissioning, Defence, New Build, and Infrastructure - where your technical leadership will directly shape innovative, safe, and sustainable engineering solutions.
Your missions:
As a Senior EC&I Engineer, you will:
🎯 Lead and deliver EC&I solutions with minimal supervision across a variety of high-profile projects.
🎯 Supervise small EC&I teams, mentor junior engineers, and oversee the quality of engineering deliverables.
🎯 Engage directly with clients, providing expert advice and developing design proposals.
🎯 Apply your understanding of health & safety, environmental impact, design lifecycle, and regulatory compliance.
🎯 Drive project success by managing schedules, reviewing technical output, and identifying scope changes.
🎯 Be the technical authority on at least two EC&I specialties such as:
⚡Control Systems
⚡Functional Safety
⚡Radiometrics & Special Instruments
⚡Electrical Supply Infrastructure
⚡Process Instrumentation
⚡Machinery Safety Compliance (2006/42/EC)

Qualifications
Qualifications/Skills to be successful:
Essential:
💡 A strong track record in delivering EC&I engineering solutions across full project life cycles.
💡 Minimum of 3 years as a Senior Engineer or equivalent in a highly regulated industry (e.g., Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas).
💡 Proficiency in relevant standards like BS7671, Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, and strong documentation/configuration management experience.
💡 A degree in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering (or HNC/HND with significant experience).
💡 Membership with a professional body (e.g., IET) and working towards or holding EngTech status or above.
Desirable:
💡 Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
💡 Experience with nuclear safety cases, BIM projects, functional safety standards, and EC&I-specific CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
💡 Familiarity with technical design risk management (e.g., HAZOP, FMECA).
