Position Overview: The Senior Director, Risk Process Framework is responsible for guiding Global Risk Management’s approach to risk identification, assessment, treatment, monitoring, and reporting. This role also involves central accountability for the risk taxonomy and monitoring the internal and external environment for emerging risks. The successful candidate will become a member of the Enterprise Risk team within the Global Risk Management function.
You have extensive experience in risk management within the financial services industry and a strong understanding of OSFI regulatory requirements and international standards. You know that understanding and managing risk can lead to value protection and value creation. You keenly recognize the value of consistent, efficient, and effective risk processes. You are excited to share your expertise with various stakeholders in a pragmatic and approachable way. You are comfortable around senior executives and can influence others to drive great outcomes in support of sound risk culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance, implement, and maintain central requirements, guidance, and procedures for Global Risk Management’s approach to risk identification, assessment, treatment, monitoring, and reporting, including the establishment of associated controls.
- Enhance, implement and execute on requirements, guidance and process for risk taxonomy framework, including leading the annual refresh process. Champion a mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive approach to categorizing and defining the risks in the taxonomy.
- Support annual Risk Appetite Framework refresh process by helping assure coverage of risk appetite statements across the taxonomy. As new risks are added or changed within the taxonomy, monitor for corresponding necessary changes in risk governance and risk process.
- Monitor and facilitate dialogue with senior leaders on emerging risks, taking into account internal and external factors.
- Develop and deliver training and awareness programs on risk taxonomy and risk process.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Background in in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Economics, Actuarial, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred); experience in consulting, financial services first line, compliance, legal, or audit considered a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in risk management within the financial services industry.
- Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Sharp analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-starter that takes initiative and is passionate about driving outcomes.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, international standards, and industry best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to see the big picture and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to influence and deliver amidst ambiguity.
- Previous experience in designing, implementing, and validating the effectiveness of controls.
- Understanding of program management, change management, and/or business process management methodologies is considered a plus.

Salary range is expected to be between
$105,750.00 CAD - $190,350.00 CAD
