The Job/What You'll Do:
The Senior Director of People Business Partner (PBP) is a strategic leader who partners with senior leadership to drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and alignment with the company’s business objectives. This role oversees a team of People Business Partners and plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing HR strategies that support the company’s growth and performance.
This is a full-time position in our Concord, CA office with a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities:
Client Support:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and key stakeholders across the business to address people-related challenges
- Provide expert counsel on workforce planning, talent development, employee relations, and organizational design
- Drive the implementation of HR initiatives that align with business priorities and enhance overall organizational effectiveness
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the business goals, challenges, and opportunities to provide proactive, data-driven recommendations
Team Leadership:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of People Business Partners to deliver high-impact support and drive successful business outcomes
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture while ensuring individual development and growth
- Ensure alignment and consistency in approach across the team to deliver seamless support and solutions to the business
Company Policy Ownership:
- Oversee the continuous update, communication, and enforcement of company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Regularly review and update policies to reflect changes in business needs, industry trends, and best practices
- Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure policies are up-to-date and consistent with organizational values
Engagement Survey and Culture:
- Create the engagement survey strategy, run the survey, and assess results
- Assist the business with change management and culture enhancement plans
- Showcase results and actions to the Enterprise
High Potential and Succession Planning:
- Own the 9-Box performance and potential matrix, ensuring it is implemented effectively
- Develop programs to retain and prepare top talent for future leadership roles
- Collaborate with talent development and leadership teams to implement targeted development plans for high-potential employees.
Change Management and Continuous Improvements:
- Lead change management efforts related to organizational restructuring, business transformations, and culture initiatives
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making and continuously improve people practices
- Leverage feedback mechanisms to drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within HR processes and strategies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into HR strategies
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust with senior leaders
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to drive evidence-based decisions
- Knowledge of HR best practices, legal compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Expertise in organizational design, performance management, and talent development frameworks (including the 9-Box model)
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Advanced degree (MBA, MA in HR) or relevant certifications (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP) preferred
- 10+ years of experience in HR or People Operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven experience in organizational effectiveness, talent management, and leading teams
- Strong background in business partnership, policy development, and large-scale organizational change
Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $X185000-$205,000.
This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
