Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced individual for the position of Senior Director, MA Strategy & Execution to lead the development of SMPA’s Access Strategy & execution of our in-market & pipeline products. Market Access strategies to ensure optimal reimbursement, access and coverage across SMPA therapies and drive alignment with internal cross-functional stakeholders. This role will report to the SVP of Market Access and serve as a liaison between commercial, sales, finance, and various brands.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Market Access Strategy:
- Business Planning: Develop and refine payor & organized customer access strategies annually. Lead business plans to ensure successful product launches and ongoing market presence.
- Channel Strategy: Develop and implement payor channel strategies to drive optimal payor access & gross to net, while improving distribution & market share.
- Pipeline Project Management and Readiness: MA lead on pipeline products to ensure Payor Access & Pricing Strategies are aligned & integrated into overall brand objectives. Advice commercial & development teams on Market Access landscape. Ensure timely execution of pre-launch activities leading the Market Access launch readiness campaign.
- Engage 2nd line MA leaders regularly to create alignment and efficiencies. (CADs, RAMs, LTC, SAMs, NCADs, TRADE)
- Collaborate with Market Access and Sales Team Leadership to integrate payor marketing strategies into broader launch and post-launch plans
- Partner with medical affairs and HEOR to ensure alignment in investment to influence payor coverage and formulary inclusion
- Analyze and monitor payor policies, reimbursement trends and market access barriers, identifying opportunities and risks for SMPA portfolio
- Provide strategic input into pricing and contracting strategies in alignment with market access goals
- Budget Management: set meeting planning budgets and priorities to optimize resource allocation and effectiveness of Market Access initiatives.
- Market Access Marketing:
- Facilitate monthly MA Account Team input meetings: Ensure SMPA account management team is trained & sees value in tools & resources. Provide feedback to Payor Marketing team & continually assess new resources to support or improve formulary position.
- Market Access Payor & Organized Customer Strategies & Account Team partner to assess and develop account specific resources incl. QBRs, business plans, and customer specific resources.
- Market Access Meetings Lead: Develop the Market Access tracks for National & POA Sales & Market Access Meetings to ensure comprehensive training and strategy dissemination. Collaborate with MA brand leads for content creation, coordinate communication with sales teams, including attendance at Plan of Action (POA) meetings and setting clear expectations for market access initiatives.
- Agency Management: Lead relationships with external agencies to support marketing and market access activities.
- Responsible for measuring performance in various Access Push & Pull Through programs (ie. CMM, copay program, pathways). Identify opportunities and risks for SMPA portfolio
- Patient Support: Support patient services team development of strategies & tactics that align with overall brand & access strategies. Integrate them into both Market Access & Brand tactical plans
- Serve as the “sponsor” for the Market Access Advisory Board
- Cross Functional Leadership:
- Lead MA Conference Strategy: Develop annual MA Conference strategy & budget across all of Market Access. Work with MA Marketing, Acct. Management (SAM, NCAD, RAM & PCAD) leads to set an annual calendar. Ensure conference planners develop meeting calendars to inform senior leaders of planned events. Set pre-conference meetings with key stakeholders & ensure tools and resources are allocated appropriately.
- MA Marketing KPI Metrics by Brand: Work with VP commercial analytics to build a monthly deck to inform monthly and quarterly business reviews. Identify trends that may impact access strategies & inform each brand regularly.
- Lead Brand Relationships: Provide Market Access input for Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews, engage brands regularly to assess strategic alignment, impact and collaborative opportunities.
- Collaborate with finance on Quarterly forecast analysis to ensure market access strategies are financially viable and aligned with overall business objectives
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 15 in pharmaceutical / Healthcare experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Market Access, with proven leadership in strategic operations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of the US healthcare system, including payor landscape, reimbursement processes and health economics
The base salary range for this role is $233,440 to $291,800. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state. Our robust time-off policy includes flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education and other factors permitted by law.
