About the job
As Twilio continues to evolve, we are seeking a Senior Director, HR Business Partner to partner with our R&D organization and directly support our Chief Product Officer. In this role, you will report to the Senior Vice President, People Partnerships (HRBPs, Employee Relations and Talent Acquisition). You will actively engage with business leaders to align their strategic objectives with people strategies, programs, processes and tactics on a global scale. You will be a people manager of a small team, providing regular guidance and mentorship to develop and inspire your team. You will collaborate across the People team and other key COEs to deliver business impact and an exceptional experience throughout the employee lifecycle. You will be an integral part of the HRBP and the People Partnerships leadership teams, partnering closely with your peers across all geographies and functions.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Develop and execute the HR strategy across our Engineering and Product teams, including organizational design, workforce planning, operating model, and more to ensure that we have the right roles in the right structure for current and future business needs
- Identify short and long-term talent priorities aligned to Twilio’s business, the relevant external market, and R&D’s goals and challenges
- Lead people-related aspects of organizational change, such as restructurings, M&As, enablement needs, and change management
- Advise on end-to-end talent management programs and processes for R&D including recruitment, performance, employee relations, talent mobility, development, and retention strategies
- Analyze trends and metrics to develop insights and influence solutions aligned with business outcomes
- Coach and support leaders and employees on talent and organizational matters through large scale and frequent changes
- Role model and evangelize the Twilio culture, making for an overall positive employee experience.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal employment requirements, uphold Twilio policies and compliance requirements, and manage complex employee relations issues in partnership with our Legal and Employee Relations teams
- Set clear and high expectations for your team’s performance, identifying enablement and development opportunities to ensure their success

Required:
- 15+ years of HR experience and 5+ years in a leadership capacity where you have partnered directly with the VP/C-suite
- 10+ years experience operating in a fast-paced, global, and scaled organization
- Experience leading a business through large scale transformation
- Demonstrated ability to influence leaders at the VP/C-suite level and build strong, positive relationships at all levels and in all directions
- Ability to effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address competitive, complex global business goals
- Deep experience of multiple Human Resource fields including compensation practices, organizational design, employee relations, diversity, performance management, talent development, federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Exceptional interpersonal, conflict resolution, and cross-cultural communication skills
- Ability to develop, engage and retain an impactful team
Desired:
- Masters in Organizational Design or other relevant HR field.
Location
This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.
Travel
We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, approximately 25% travel is anticipated to help you connect in-person in a meaningful way.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado or Washington D.C.: $199,040 - $248,800
- Based in New York, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $215,100 - $268,800
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
