About the Role

The Senior Director, Global Operations provides strategic oversight of all operational functions ensuring alignment with company-wide standards and driving excellence. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Global Operations, this role partners closely with the VP to offer strategic leadership to the newsroom department, fostering a culture of operational quality and innovation. The Senior Director directly manages the Heads of the East and West Hubs, supplying analysis, guidance, and mentorship while also advising newsroom leadership on workflow optimization to continuously improve operational efficiency. Additionally, the Senior Director will play a pivotal role in shaping strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and mitigate operational risks, ensuring the company's reputation and integrity are protected.


What You'll Do

In partnership with the Vice President, Global Operations:

 

· Provide strategic oversight for global newsroom operational functions, ensuring alignment with Business Wire’s broader objectives, operational efficiency, and content quality across regions.

· Serve as key advisor to executive leadership, offering high-level insights on business decisions and long-term process improvements.

· Analyze and innovate newsroom performance metrics to measure productivity and drive operational improvements in coordination with the Director, Global Operations who manages Central and Overnight teams.

· Supply strategic oversight of editorial review process, leveraging data driven KPIs that assess performance at individual and team levels to further propel continuous enhancements in efficiency and quality control.

· Collaborate with sales leadership to ensure alignment with client expectations, addressing concerns and proactive issue prevention through strategic process adjustments that maintain high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

· Contribute guidance and leadership to department managers, project leads, and cross-functional teams, fostering innovation, best practices, and optimized workflows to meet evolving organizational needs.

· Engage in crisis and risk management efforts, acting as a final escalation point for sensitive client situations and guiding teams through high-risk challenges to safeguard the company's reputation.

· Drive succession planning and employee engagement initiatives, cultivating a high-performance culture rooted in mentorship, collaboration, and the organization's core values.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in media, publishing, or newsroom operations, with a focus on content review and editing
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively oversee operations department
  • Experience and knowledge in strategic planning and department optimization
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to motivate, lead by example, and make quick, insightful decisions
  • Self-motivated, with stellar time-management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize new and ongoing projects
  • Courteous, professional, and effective communication
  • White-glove customer service experience
  • Exceptional collaboration and organizational skills, excelling at both high-level thinking and execution as well as influencing and inspiring others to achieve a common goal
  • Basic technical skills and computer literacy, including proficiency in standard business applications such as MS Word and Excel; Web, etc.
  • Must be flexible with schedule, as needed

    What We Offer

    The base salary range for this position is $155K to $170K/year. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
