High Point University’s Office of Student Life is seeking a Senior Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life. This position develops and manages Fraternity and Sorority Life programs and recruitment for the University. Also ensures that the University has a successful Fraternity and Sorority Life program, which supports the University’s overall recruitment efforts and student retention. This position has oversight and supervision of Fraternity and Sorority Life Housing. Supervises the FSL Team, including two Assistant Directors of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Includes also membership of Student Life Leadership Team, including evening and rotating weekend on call supervisor responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience and Training
- Minimum of 8-10 years of Student Life, Greek Life, and/or Residence Life experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Excellent communication, organization, planning and team building skills
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities
- Ability to develop exciting and relevant programs for students
- Capability to remain calm and make decisions in emergency situations
- Experience with risk management required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Creates the policies and standards that outline membership eligibility in collaboration with inter/national fraternities and sororities
- Plans and implements fraternity and sorority programming, in collaboration with other university departments
- Develops and implements Fraternity and Sorority Life recruitment programs
- Conducts grade and student conduct review of all students seeking membership into a fraternity or sorority.
- Leads review of academic standards for continued membership each academic semester
- Approves and manages the establishment/expansion of new Fraternity and Sorority organizations
- Reviews and approves Fraternity and Sorority Life social activities
- Maintains communication with and advises Fraternity and Sorority Life student leaders to help them achieve their area goals
- Develops and delivers programs and educates members on issues important to Greek Life
- Identifies problems or potential problems, academic or disciplinary, and implements intervention measures
- Develops and maintains relationships with national leadership of Greek organizations
- Oversees Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic governing council and National Pan-Hellenic Council
- When on duty (evenings and weekends on a rotating basis), serves as Staff on Call for any type of emergency, determines appropriate actions/resources needed, makes necessary arrangements, communicates with parents and responds to Student Life email
- Ensures University social and housing regulations are understood and followed by students residing in Fraternity and Sorority Life Housing
- Conducts mandatory walk-throughs and ensures any maintenance, housekeeping, safety problems within Greek housing are identified, reported and resolved
- Reviews and ensures that all students living within Fraternity and Sorority Life housing are current with Fraternity and Sorority Life requirements
- Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Life
