We are seeking a strategic, experienced, and results-driven Sr. Director of Engineering Operations to lead and elevate our engineering practices. This key role will be responsible for driving success by establishing and evolving engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices. You will partner closely with delivery organizations to ensure high-quality deliverables, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across all teams. As a change agent, you will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and performance, while equipping engineering teams with the tools, knowledge, and skills they need to excel.
In this leadership role, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive engineering enablement program, ensuring that engineering teams are empowered to meet evolving demands. You will leverage performance data to guide decision-making, track key metrics, and continuously refine processes for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Standards & Methodologies:
• Lead the development and implementation of engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices tailored to each team's specific needs and project requirements.
• Ensure that engineering processes and practices are consistent, scalable, and optimized for quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Continuously drive improvements in engineering by incorporating feedback, industry trends, and emerging technologies into standard practices.
Training & Enablement:
• Design and implement a comprehensive engineering enablement program to enhance the technical capabilities of engineering teams.
• Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities to keep teams aligned with industry best practices, new tools, and cutting-edge technologies.
• Develop training programs, materials, and resources that help engineering teams grow their technical expertise and work effectively in both agile and waterfall environments.
• Serve as a coach and mentor, guiding engineering leaders and teams on how to engage and perform at their best across various team structures and methodologies.
Performance Metrics & Continuous Improvement:
• Define and track key engineering performance metrics to measure operational efficiency, quality, and team performance.
• Leverage data insights to identify areas for process improvement and collaborate with leadership to implement corrective actions and refine strategies.
• Regularly report on engineering performance and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and objectives.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between engineering practices and business objectives.
• Ensure that engineering teams are effectively integrated into the broader organizational processes, aligning efforts with the company's strategic vision and goals.
Change Management & Leadership
• Lead the development and implementation of engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices tailored to each team's specific needs and project requirements.
• Influence and inspire engineering leaders and teams, cultivating a high-performance environment that embraces change, agility, and growth.
• Lead with a data-driven approach, using analytics to make informed decisions and drive ongoing enhancements in engineering practices.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 12 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 10 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 7 years' experience in a related field; or 16 years' experience in a related field 7+ years' experience in a management or leadership role
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in engineering, with a proven track record of leading and optimizing engineering teams.
• Requires strong knowledge of developing and implementing engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices Excellent skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
• Expertise in developing and implementing engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices.
• Deep understanding of modern engineering practices, tools, and technologies, with a strong focus on scalable solutions.
• Demonstrated experience in driving cultural change and fostering high-performance teams within engineering organizations.
• Strong background in providing training, coaching, and professional development to engineering teams.
• Experience defining and tracking performance metrics to measure and improve engineering quality and efficiency.
• Proficiency with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices, with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, influence, and align cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Ability to manage complex, multi-pronged projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Passion for continuous learning and staying up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in engineering operations.
Preferred
• Degree in related discipline strongly desired (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, etc.)
USD 159,400.00 - 265,600.00
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $159,400.00 - $265,600.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
