About the department
The candidate selected for this role will work in the Paris office and will report into Head of Distribution France, Belgium & Luxembourg and will work with the Paris Business Development team who covers institutional and wholesale investors.
The team that you will work within consists of 3 sales professionals who are provided with support by the Client Services team based in the UK and in Italy, along with Sales Support and the Marketing team.
About the role
As the Senior Director of Business Development, you will get the opportunity to be predominantly responsible for institutional investor sales in France and you will be responsible for developing relationships with existing clients and prospects, creating new opportunities and promoting abrdn as a Premier Investment House. A strong experience in the French institutional and consultant market is of key importance.
Within this role the key customers of the area are predominantly external clients, however internally, you will be required to foster and develop relationships with other parts of the sales operations around the world, as well as the other support functions in the business
Key Responsibilities
This role’s main responsibly with be looking after the Institutional investor sales in France along with:

developing relationships with existing clients and building new ones

supporting the team’s business development activities as required

To act as a conduit into investments for clients, focusing on matching clients’ investment needs to suitable proposition and product sets.

To manage overall relationship with our larger existing clients to ensure client satisfaction & retention.

To work on strategies to acquire profitable new investment business, develop plans and proposals to enhance return on assets.
About the candidate requirements

Significant experience covering institutional clients in France and key knowledge of the French market (dynamics, clients, competition)

Excellent working knowledge of investment matters and asset classes including Private Markets, Real Assets, Fixed Income, Equities, Absolute Return Investment, to identify tasks and implement solutions that will help to develop new business relationships and relationships with consultants

Strong team spirit – The candidate should be an enthusiastic and reliable team player, actively contributing to the wider team effort, sharing responsibility for results but equally a self-starter who is motivated to carry out a client strategy and plan once agreed.

Excellent internal and external communications skills

Languages – French and English are essential

Experience in both the institutional and consultant market is of key importance
