Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) is one of the largest integrated sports and entertainment companies in the country with one of the most diverse partnership groups in all of sports. Prior to acquiring the linear platform, the digital platform was launched by MSE in 2016, as the first-of-its-kind regional sports network for digital, mobile, and streaming platforms. Those linear and digital platforms are now combined and join Caps Radio, Wizards Radio, MSE Outdoor and Monumental Productions for a full suite of six media enterprises.
In addition to Capital One Arena – a venue which hosts 3M+ visitors across over 250 events annually, MSE also manages MedStar Capitals Iceplex (training facility for the Capitals), MedStar Health Performance Center (training facility for the Wizards, Mystics, and Go-Go) and EagleBank Arena (a 12,000+ live event venue on George Mason University’s campus).
In July 2020, MSE partnered with William Hill (subsequently acquired by Caesars Entertainment) to open the first ever in-arena sportsbook in North America, now called Caesars Sportsbook.
MSE opened “District E powered by Ticketmaster” in the spring of 2023, a flagship esports and entertainment venue. This 14,000-square-foot live-event theater offers a 365-day-a-year series of immersive experiences in esports, music, culinary excellence, event programming, and community events.

Position Overview: The Senior Director, Accounting is responsible for managing the Accounting staff for Capital One Arena.

Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting staff and operations including Billing, A/R, GL and Revenue Recognition for DC Arena, LP.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Assist in coordination of year-end financial statement audit.
- Oversee Sponsorship Revenue Accounting.
- Review and approve sponsorship related intercompany accounting between DCALP and all other entities.
- Maintain contract files for retail space and review all related activity.
- Oversee NBA League Reporting (BRI, CFS).
- Review and approve weekly AP check batches.
- Oversee AR Collection efforts.
- Assist with settlement of concerts, family shows and other Arena events with event promoters.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions, financial reporting, and proper revenue recognition.
- Assist in developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Coordinate with other MSE Departments as necessary.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Perform ad hoc analysis as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting.
- CPA, CMA, or Big 4 experience preferred.
- Proven accounting experience at a Supervisory level, preferably in the Sports or Real Estate industry.
- 6+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
- Detailed knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Excellent accounting software skills.
- Strong professional ethics and sensitivity in dealing with confidential information.
- Strong attention to detail is required.
Pay Range: $155-167k USD.
