The Business Digital Transformation & Optimization department is a cross-functional team focused on improving projects, processes, systems, and tools to help the business more efficiently and effectively. This area is responsible for defining, standardizing, implementing and continuously improving processes, systems, and tools to develop sustainable efficiencies and continuous improvement in the entire value chain of the onshore business.
The Technology team, as part of the Digital Transformation & Optimization department, oversees the Digital Center of Excellence ensuring Renewables technology is deployed in an efficient and effective way, using the right technology, deployed under the correct operational model, and meeting business requirements.
The Product Owner for the Growth & Data Governance Technology team will have a strong understanding of the Commercial, Organic Growth, and Project Delivery side of the organization. The Product Owner will also be ready and eager to implement a new Data Governance model for the organization and help to streamline our business practices around data. They will work with different stakeholders across the business to understand their business processes and implement or enhance technology that meets their business requirements. The ideal candidate embraces technology and is proactively aware of cutting-edge solutions available that can be applied to streamline a process. They will also have a strong understanding of Product Management and Ownership and can apply those methodologies to the technology that the team implements and manages. Although the title of this role is a Product Manager, members of our team often wear multiple hats. Sometimes we need to have flexibility to be more of a Business Systems Admin/Analyst and assist with the administration or analysis of the products that we manage.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand Avangrid Renewables onshore business, goals, objectives and define digital technologies programs align with that. Focus on the Growth areas: Commercial, Organic Growth and Projects Execution.
- Development and implementation of digital programs, define the vision for Growth Solutions and Data Governance systems.
- Develops, Maintains and Implements the Technology Roadmap for the Growth and/or Data Governance areas. Identify and monitor risks in implementing the product road map.
- Define the development and evolution of digital solutions for Avangrid Renewables, including but not limited to the following technologies: Data Governance systems, Land Management systems, Salesforce, document management systems, project management tools, project budget controls tools, and self-developed software solutions.
- Collaborate with prospective users and impacted stakeholders to understand and anticipate their needs and translate those needs into product features. Shadow different process steps to understand how stakeholders are working. Collect and define business requirements.
- Work closely with the business to define and create business cases for technology.
- Lead the implementation of software applications.
- Assist with build vs buy analysis.
- Ensure the use of common development standards, methodology and tools.
- Mitigate roadblocks to achieving release goals.
- Lead regular check-in meetings.
- Remain flexible to direct work or perform configuration work on your own, depending on the resources assigned to the product.
- Assist with the Change Management process.
- Create user guides and training documentation.
- Provide implementation and production support.
- Self-manage products/projects and direct the work of product teams.
- Oversee day-to-day technology operations, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance. Ensure operational incidents are resolved and manage technology user access.
- Deliver excellent levels operational stability and reliability to the digital platforms. Define operational programs and identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency and reliability. Foster culture of continuous transformation.
- Analyze user data to identify opportunities for improvement and new product introduction.
- Support other areas in Digital Transformation and Optimization in achieving common goals.
- Analyze different technologies that can be used to digitize processes and make them more efficient.
- This position will also provide operational experience support to the Avangrid Renewables offshore organization as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 or more years of experience working with and configuring third-party software platforms.
- Product management and product ownership experience.
- Project management skills coupled with organization, flexibility, and strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with agile methodology.
- Previous experience defining and optimizing processes.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders.
- Experience drawing flowcharts and process diagrams using Microsoft Visio or similar.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong analytical skills, being able to independently build business cases.
Preferred Qualifications
- More than 5 years of working experience.
- Experience working with or in several business areas like procurement, supply chain, project delivery, etc.
- Experience managing product development teams, or experience working within a product development team.
- Experience with agile management tools (like Jira, Kanban boards, etc.)
- MicroStrategy, Tableau or Power BI business intelligence reporting experience.
- Business workflow/automation experience.
- Experience with Office 365 business tools (e.g. Teams, PowerApps, Power Automate)
- Experience with participating in projects in a highly collaborative, multicultural development team environment.
- Previous experience with Product Ownership or Product Management.
