Overview
The Currency Design System team at M&T Bank is creating the foundation for our digital experiences across the enterprise. We are a diverse and passionate group of 8, (encompassing design, engineering, and research) and are dedicated to crafting scalable, cohesive, and accessible design solutions that effectively serve multiple brands, business lines, and more. We are seeking a Sr. Design Producer who will be responsible for strategically driving Currency’s design and development by being incredibly detail oriented, an excellent communicator, highly collaborative and goal driven. This role is responsible for driving the team’s day-to-day work, ensuring accountability to delivery timelines, quality standards and more.
Key Team Priorities for the Coming Year
- Building out core set of components and design patterns to reach system maturity, while catering to unique team needs and requirements.
- Expanding system adoption across multiple product teams while maintaining quality and alignment with business needs.
- Developing a robust system of measurement to track the impact of design system adoption.
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to integrate tools, processes, and systems that elevate collaboration and delivery.
- Championing design/engineering excellence through effective prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and project management.
- Establishing clear workflows for both internal team operations as well as governance for external contributions to the Currency Design System.
What You Bring
You are detail oriented, incredibly organized, a strong communicator, and have background in program and project management within creative or design-focused environments. You thrive in collaborative settings, have a talent for building relationships across teams, and have expertise with Atlassian tools (Jira / Confluence, etc). You have a natural ability to orchestrate the multiple workstreams within the team, and ensure design initiatives are delivered on schedule, and at the highest level of quality.

Primary Responsibilities
Leadership & Collaboration
Take ownership of medium to large-scale objectives, ensuring successful delivery with limited oversight.
Build and maintain strong relationships with designers, developers, and business stakeholders, fostering a culture of collaboration and trust.
Partner with Marketing and Product teams to ensure that the design system effectively delivers brand consistency and cohesiveness across all digital experiences.
Process Optimization
Define and refine workflows, governance models, and documentation to support the ongoing evolution of the design system.
Lead efforts to improve alignment between design and development teams, ensuring seamless handoffs and consistent implementation of system components.
Project Management
Plan and manage roadmaps, ensuring objectives and goals are completed on time and aligned with team priorities.
Track progress and impact of initiatives, leveraging tools to visualize key metrics and communicate outcomes effectively.
Schedule and facilitate team meetings, ceremonies (such as reviews, retros, standups, syncs, and office hours), and manage team calendars, ensuring clear documentation of notes, decisions, and action items.
Maintain organized meeting records and follow up on action items to drive accountability and project momentum.
Advocacy & Communication
Drive internal communications and serve as the primary point of contact between the Currency Design System team and users/stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent messaging across all channels and initiatives.
Act as an ambassador for the Currency Design System, evangelizing its value across the organization.
Create compelling presentations and communications that highlight the team’s achievements and contributions.
Documentation & Knowledge
Collaborate with researchers to effectively communicate user insights, research findings, and user testing results to the broader team and stakeholders, ensuring research-driven decision making in the design system's evolution.
Work closely with Content Designer to develop comprehensive educational materials, training resources, and documentation that enable teams to effectively leverage the design system.
Maintain and contribute to Supernova documentation platform to effectively communicate design system updates, record changelogs, and implementation guidelines to the broader organization.
Quality Assurance
Work with designers and developers to maintain high standards of quality, accessibility, and consistency across all design system components.
Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and other regulatory requirements.
Strategic Contribution
Align design system goals with broader product and business strategies.
Anticipate risks, identify dependencies, and proactively resolve challenges that may impact project outcomes.
Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Design, Project Management, or Business, and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years education and/or relevant/product design work experience.
Strong track record of managing design or creative projects, with experience working in a design system or digital product environment.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Demonstrated expertise with tools like Figma, Jira, Confluence, Miro, or similar.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Experience navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in a self-directed environment.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Experience within financial services or other regulated industries.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in Agile teams.
Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG, and their application in design and development workflows.
Background in scaling and maintaining design systems within large enterprises.
Proficiency in tools for research, user testing, and design system governance.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $82,783.41 - $137,972.36 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
