We are looking for a skilled Database Engineer (DBE) to join our team and work closely with engineering, DevOps, and IT teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server (2016, 2019, 2022), Redshift, and data engineering best practices. You will work with DBAs to manage and optimize data pipelines, ensuring high performance, scalability, and data integrity. This role involves supporting ETL/ELT processes, troubleshooting database-related issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align data architecture with business needs. You will also assist in cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure) and help maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments. The role . . .
- Data Engineering & Pipeline Optimization
- Support and manage 47+ SQL Server instances (2016, 2019, 2022).
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain data pipelines using SQL, SSIS, CDC, and Redshift.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through robust validation, cleaning, and transformation techniques.
- Support and maintain data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift) for high-performance analytics.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for efficient data ingestion and transformation.
- Implement OLAP solutions across various database technologies.
- Experience or knowledge of SQL Server BI markup language (BIML) for SSIS
- Cloud & DevOps (Advantageous Experience)
- Assist in managing cloud-based data platforms using AWS & Azure.
- Work with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Redshift, and Azure SQL for cloud-based data solutions.
- Support SaaS Ops with database deployments.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated data pipeline deployment and infrastructure updates.
- Basic networking knowledge, including integration runtime, data gateway, and VNet data gateway.
- Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work closely with database, development, and enterprise architecture teams to align data architecture with business needs.
- Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to ensure secure, scalable, and high-availability data systems.
- Provide guidance and mentorship on best practices in database development and Azure DevOps repo management.
- Data Governance & Security
- Act as a data custodian, ensuring SQL-related code follows best practices and is properly reviewed.
- Promote and enforce data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Troubleshooting & Support
- Identify and resolve data-related issues and discrepancies.
- Provide support for data-related queries and requests from various teams.
- Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and optimize database performance.
The ideal candidate. . .
- 5+ years in a SQL Development/Data Engineering role.
- Very strong T-SQL skills: stored procedures, functions, scripting, performance optimization.
- Experience with Very Large Databases (VLDB) and SQL performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of data engineering methodologies, ETL/ELT, and data pipeline best practices.
- Experience with SQL Server (2016, 2019, 2022), SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and Redshift.
- Strong team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to take initiative.
- Ability to understand business needs and translate them into effective data solutions.
