Job Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain database systems to support our applications and operations
- Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Ensure database security by implementing and maintaining access controls, encryption, and other security measures
- Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures
- Collaborate with the software development team to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements
- Provide database support and guidance to the software development team during the development lifecycle
- Provides comprehensive database engineering services on projects and initiatives
- Develops database architecture to address business requirements, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability
- Generally, has comprehensive knowledge and expertise of database technologies, along with solid programming, design and system analysis skills
- Performs specialized assignments; solves complex problems and develops non-traditional solutions through sophisticated analytical thinking
- Interprets internal/external business environment
- Recommends best practices to improve processes or services
- Impacts achievements of customer, operational, project or service objectives
- Communicates difficult concepts to team to generate clarity and alignment on projects, initiatives, and various work products
- May lead functional projects with moderate risks and resource requirements
- Individual contributor working independently; may require guidance in highly complex situations
- Performs all other duties as assigned by management
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience
- Typically requires 5+ years of related work experience
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems like Microsoft SQL Server
- Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and performance optimization
- Experience with database security best practices and tools
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions like Azure SQL Database
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or PowerShell
- Experience with database automation and DevOps practices
