Summary of Position
This job involves managing and supporting production database environments, with a concentration on MySQL and other databases (e.g., Redshift, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, MSSQL). You will be primarily focused on day-to-day production database administration for these databases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement backup and recovery processes, provide system and SQL performance tuning, and assist in business process integration with various data sources.
- Fulfill user requests such as access control, backup, restore, refresh to non-production, and performance tuning.
- Provide online & on-call coverage for support of our production environments.
- Automate processes using tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, CAF, GIT and Terraform.
- Document and improve operational practices and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in all environments.
- Participate in other projects and duties as assigned, as well as on-call rotation.
- Monitor and supply database metrics with tools like New Relic, Nagios, Graphite, Datadog PMM, etc.
The time spent on each responsibility reflects an estimate and is subject to change dependent on business needs.
Qualifications Required for Position:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in MySQL administration, and a familiarity with ProxySQL administration.
- Strong automation and scripting skills (bash, Perl, Python) to develop custom DBA applications, drive system automation, and integrate complex solutions.
- Extensive experience with complex data tier architectures, including replication, clustering, and managing system interactions with DBMS.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience gained through work, training, military service, or other education.
- Experience working within the Azure or AWS ecosystems, contributing to cloud-based solutions and architecture.

- Self-driven and adaptable, able to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple locations.
- Familiarity with continuous integration, testing, and deployment practices to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including version control and ticketing systems like Git and Jira, to effectively manage development processes and project workflows.
The base salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$140,000.00. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here Teladoc Health Benefits 2025. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
