Summary of Position
Must have at least five years of recent hands-on experience in MySQL databases and a familiarity with ProxySQL. Preference will be given to candidates with additional experience in other databases the team supports; Redshift, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Oracle, and MSSQL Server. You will be primarily focused on day-to-day production database administration for these databases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement backup and recovery processes, provide system and SQL performance tuning, and assist in business process integration with various data sources.
- Fulfill user requests such as access control, backup, restore, refresh to non-production, and performance tuning.
- Provide online & on-call coverage for support of our production environments.
- Automate processes using tools like Jenkins, Puppet, Docker, Kubernetes, Packer, and Terraform.
- Document and improve operational practices and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in all environments.
- Participate in other projects and duties as assigned, as well as on-call rotation.
- Monitor and supply database metrics with tools like New Relic, Nagios, Graphite, Datadog PMM, etc.

Qualifications Expected for Position
- Must have at least five years of recent hands-on experience in MySQL and a familiarity with ProxySQL administration.
- A strong background in automation and scripting (bash, PERL, python) to develop DBA applications for system automation and integration.
- Experience in complex data tier architecture, including replication, clustering, and system interaction with the DBMS.
- Bachelor’s degree with applicable major or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, and/or education.
- Experience with the Azure or AWS ecosystem.
- Able and willing to work in a team environment, adopt a culture of ownership and initiative, and promote such within the team.
- Able and willing to work independently and in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, verbal and written. Be able to discuss our technology with both technical and non-technical audiences in a geographically dispersed environment.
- Have familiarity with continuous integration, testing, and deployment.
- Have familiarity with software development lifecycle, including version management and ticketing systems such as Git and Jira.

The base salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$140,000.00. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here Teladoc Health Benefits 2025. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
