Job Description:

   

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Protection Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing and securing enterprise-level data protection solutions, specifically with Commvault, Veeam, and Zerto.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and recovery of critical business data through the design, implementation, and ongoing management of backup and disaster recovery systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Backup and Recovery Management: Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of backup and disaster recovery solutions using Commvault, Veeam, and Zerto to ensure the integrity and availability of data.

  • Solution Integration: Work closely with internal teams to integrate data protection solutions with other IT infrastructure (servers, databases, cloud environments, etc.).

  • Data Security: Implement and maintain data encryption, secure storage, and other security measures to protect sensitive information in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor backup jobs and storage systems to ensure that backups are completed successfully and within required SLAs. Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures or performance issues.

  • Reporting and Documentation: Generate regular backup, recovery, and DR performance reports; maintain detailed documentation for all backup and disaster recovery processes, policies, and procedures.

  • Capacity Planning: Proactively assess backup storage needs and manage data growth, ensuring sufficient resources for future scaling of backup systems.

  • Collaboration and Support: Provide technical support and guidance to other IT teams and stakeholders regarding backup and recovery best practices, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in data protection, and make recommendations for process improvements, automation, and tool upgrades.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Deep understanding of backup and recovery strategies, technologies, and tools.

    • Proficiency in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Commvault, Veeam, and Zerto solutions.

    • Strong knowledge of virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud-based backup solutions.

    • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and storage technologies (SAN, NAS).

    • Understanding of disaster recovery planning, business continuity, and high-availability configurations.

  • Certifications (Optional but Preferred):

    • Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)

    • Commvault Certified Professional

    • Zerto Certified Professional

    • Other relevant backup or disaster recovery certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware).

Additional Skills:

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to data backup and recovery.

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating documentation and providing clear instructions to team members and stakeholders.

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure that all data protection systems are working as expected and meet compliance and recovery requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud environments for backup and disaster recovery.

  • Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.) to optimize backup and recovery workflows.
