Role and Responsibilities

How you make a difference
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing data pipelines and workflows, translating business needs into scalable technical solutions. With hands-on expertise in data engineering and ETL processes, you ensure seamless data integration across GCP, Azure, and local servers. You will collaborate with Business Units, Marketing, BI, Support Teams, and Advanced Analytics to drive data-driven decision-making.
 
Key Responsibilities:

Data Engineering

  • Collect and integrate data from multiple sources to meet business needs.
  • Transform raw data into clean, structured, and reusable datasets for analysts and stakeholders.
  • Apply automated ETL/ELT processes, ensuring data integrity by:
    • Removing inaccurate or corrupted data.
    • Aggregating and summarizing datasets.
    • Filtering out irrelevant or duplicate information.
    • Managing and optimizing database tables.
  • Perform and guide junior engineers in maintenance and troubleshooting of data pipelines and BI tools.

Data Infrastructure & Governance

  • Manage data warehouse governance and access controls.
  • Recommend strategies to enhance BI tool performance and capacity.
  • Develop security and authentication standards for data access.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical architecture documentation.
  • Define and enforce BI standards, guidelines, and best practices.

Data Visualization Support

  • Assist in converting data into interactive dashboards, charts, and reports using BI tools.
  • Support automated and self-service data visualization initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with business owners, BI specialists, analysts, and data scientists to align business goals with data solutions.
  • Manage requirements from business divisions, Marketing Channels, and Strategy teams.
  • Collaborate with European and global teams on key data projects.
  • Advocate for data-driven decision-making, communicating complex concepts in a clear and accessible way for stakeholders.

Your team
As a Senior Data Engineer you will be part of the Central Data Marketing team in the Corporate Marketing organization in Schiphol, Netherlands. We are providing marketing and business analytics solutions as well as the data marketing activations across online channels such as CRM, Media and Ads, and .com. You will be part of the BI team, one of the critical teams of Data Analytics and Data marketing success at Samsung. Your team consists of data engineers, BI & visualization developers, and closely works with the advanced analytics team.

As our new Senior Data Engineer, you excel in managing multiple projects with accuracy and a sharp analytical mindset. Your strong stakeholder management skills enable you to build valuable relationships across teams and external partners. With excellent communication and presentation abilities, you translate complex data into clear insights for all levels of the organization. Additionally, your networking, project management, and organizational skills ensure efficient execution and impactful results.

We also request:

  • A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Business Information Management, or an equivalent study
  • Minimal 5 years of experience working in Data engineering, data warehousing, BI, or Analytics, with proven Technical Experience in ETL and relational data base management, and data modeling.
  • Strong knowledge in the coding languages: using the following tools: Python, SQL and data toolings (Airflow & dbt). Knowledge and skills in data engineering, API, and cloud computing (GCP, Azure, and Databricks)
  • Experience with working with GIT and CI/CD, & Linux
  • A good command English language at a professional level.
  • Skilled in using MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Skilled in using in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or Looker). Preferably PowerBI
