JOB DESCRIPTION
FUGA’s Data Engineering team is looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to work in our Amsterdam headquarters. In this role, you’ll work with large-scale music streaming analytics data and contribute to the value-added projects that directly support the business. You’ll play a key role in fostering a data-driven culture by delivering reliable data engineering solutions. At FUGA, data drives decisions, optimises operations, and delivers value.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build and optimize data pipelines with GCP, BigQuery, Apache Beam, Airflow and Dataflow.
- Work on tasks like data cleaning and filtering to ensure robust pipelines.
- Work closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to own tasks and drive team success.
- Develop components to interact with APIs, databases, cloud services, message brokers, filesystems and data processing infrastructure.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code that meets high-quality standards, and integrates with CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain and improve current processes and pipelines.
- Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and drive continuous improvement in team practices.
WHO YOU ARE
- Solid experience as a Data Engineer, working with high-volume datasets, in GCP or AWS.
- Proficient in SQL, skilled at writing complex queries for insights and efficient data wangling.
- You know how to create clean, reliable datasets optimised for analytics and operational use.
- Strong Python expertise with skills in tools like Apache Beam or Dataflow.
- You know Docker and Airflow and are comfortable using them effectively in workflows.
- You’re confident in data modelling and organising data for efficient use and analysis.
- You take pride in delivering well-tested, maintainable solutions – Quality matters to you.
- Collaboration is your thing, you value feedback and thrive in team environments.
- You are familiar with software development lifecycle practices and version control (GitHub).
- Have a high level of attention to detail, are self-driven, and able to work independently.
- You're a strong analytical thinker and excellent problem-solver.
- Own projects end-to-end: from requirements to implementation.
WHAT SKILLS YOU NEED
A successful applicant for this role will have:
- A degree in Computer Science, Data/Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of SQL querying, including experience with tools like Big Query.
- Strong Python skills including data integration experience in ETL environments.
- Skilled with Python libraries for data manipulation.
- Background working with very large datasets and data warehousing.
- Good skills in parsing, transforming and cleaning structured and unstructured data.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with teams and stakeholders.
NICE TO HAVES
- Prior experience in the music industry is a big plus.
- Software development experience with good linux skills.
- GCP Professional Data Engineer certification or similar.
- Experience with Java or Kotlin is preferable.
- Snowflake or Databricks Experience.
- Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes.
