Senior Data Engineer, IT Corporate

IT Corporate is a Nordic IT unit with close to 60 employees and consultants divided into three teams. We are responsible for systems and IT solutions for If's corporate units such as Accounting, Cash Management, Marketing, Legal and HR. 
 
To strengthen our support for ongoing business and tech transformation, we are seeking a passionate Senior Data Engineer to support the implementation of our IT Corporate Data platform using Databricks and Azure Data Factory.

About the role 
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to implement our IT Corporate Data Platform using Databricks and Azure Data Factory. This role is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals looking to take on a pivotal role in a dynamic environment. You will be part of a dedicated team from the very beginning, building our new platform and shaping its functionality and design. This is a unique opportunity to influence and create something extraordinary from the ground up.  

You will be responsible for designing and creating data models, implementing ELT processes, and ensuring compliance with data governance and security best practices. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in delivering innovative financial solutions for all Nordic and Baltic countries. 

This position will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile way of working to streamline development processes and ensure seamless integration of financial data. You will collaborate with a dedicated team to build our new Azure platform and work closely with other stakeholders and teams across different units. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Support establishment of the IT Corporate Data platform using Databricks, Azure Data Factory and other Azure related services. 

• Design and create data models that enforce business requirements. 

• Implement ELT processes for Delta Lake loading using Databricks/Azure Data Factory Pipelines. 

• Design and implement scalable and efficient data storage solutions for serverless processing. 

• Troubleshoot technical issues related to Databricks/Azure Data Factory, Power BI, DevOps and test automations.  

• Ensure compliance with FSA guidelines, data governance, and security best practices. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data and business analysts. 

• Communicate and present technical concepts, challenges, and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

About the team 
IT Corporate offers work in modern IT environment where it is possible to combine work in maintenance with new development projects. Our technical environment includes several platforms, and our applications support many different functions and processes. We have in-depth knowledge, not only in programming and system development, but also in project management, requirements handling and test management. We work in close collaboration with the customer, and there is an opportunity to work with several customers and different applications. In this team you’ll get the chance to work in both smaller and larger development projects.

You also have 

• Relevant educational background within Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent education. 

• Skilled in Azure data services (Data Factory, Databricks) and integration tools (Functions, Logic Apps).  

• In-depth knowledge of T-SQL & Python programming. 

• Hands-on experience using Azure DevOps with focus on automating deployment with CI/CD, managing infrastructure as code, using Git for version control, and setting up monitoring and alerting for data workflows. 

• Experience in implementing data pipelines using Data Factory and Databricks (SQL & Python). 

• Knowhow in optimizing pipelines and queries for cost/performance. 

• Practice of Azure security, compliance, and governance best practices. 

• Business understanding of accounting, financial data, regulatory reporting (beneficial).  

• Excellent communication skills. 

• Experience with collaborative problem-solving and troubleshooting. 

• Full proficiency in English, verbal and writing.
