We’re actively seeking a talented Sr. Analytics Engineer to join our Data Analytics team in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote.

As a Sr. Analytics Engineer, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by building analytical pipelines that automate data flows and predictive or prescriptive algorithms. You will perform data analysis, partner with our business on the application of data sets to solve business problems, and optimize the access of this data to support these pipelines. You will join a team in the Consumer Markets Division and your colleagues will include fellow Data Analytics professionals.
How you will make an impact:

  • Discovery:  Participates in the discovery and capture of data requirements from business stakeholders and technology partners, performs data analysis, and creates high level data designs for information solutions (15%)

  • Solutioning:  Participates in the design, development, testing, and implementation of analytics solutions by translating business data and non-functional requirements into working code (25%)

  • Building:  Analyzes, interprets, and visualizes data to help users meet complex reporting and analytical business needs for requests from senior business stakeholders or other technology areas (25%)

  • Thought Leader:  Stays connected to cross industry data engineering thought leadership, synthesizes key concepts, and drives practical adoption within Pacific Life (10%) 

The experience you will bring:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Business/Financial Analyst or Systems Analyst in a company with large, complex data sources.

  • Experience building/operating highly available, data pipelines, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets

  • Experience working with AWS tools and features

  • Experience with cloud databases like Snowflake

  • Experience with unstructured and streaming data

  • Demonstrated strength in data modeling, SQL development, and data warehousing

  • Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy

  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$144,630.00 - $176,770.00
