The successful candidate will have a strong background in data and solution architecture, application integration, and data storage and processing technologies, with strong conceptual and innovative thinking to design solutions to complex problems and excellent communication skills to interact with stakeholders and clients. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a candidate who has both the interest in and ability to dive in, actively designing solutions, and pushing up their sleeves to do some development of their own as needed. If you have a passion for technology, thrive in a dynamic environment, and possess strong client-facing communication skills, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various internal disciplines, vendors, and clients to understand existing and target solution architecture, systems, business processes and data flows, and define project requirements.
  • Define and document data architecture best practices, principles and frameworks.
  • Provide data architecture governance on projects from inception to go-live.
  • Own the design and optimization of the data architecture and roadmap for client projects. Ensure alignment with security and data privacy requirements.
  • Partner with various internal team members and client technology staff to incorporate data architecture plans into overarching project and enterprise architecture designs and roadmaps.
  • Understand and advocate for the need to consider both ideal design and end-state usability. Ensure data architecture designs are fit for purpose and built with the needs of data consumers (end users, business processes, systems) in mind.
  • Research and evaluate technology and vendor selection choices for platforms and tools used throughout the client data ecosystem.
  • Translate requirements into data storage designs, integration patterns and data models which align with the client’s business and data strategy, enterprise architecture, technology roadmap and project objectives.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, other technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience, including experience leading enterprise-wide data architecture projects and vision to design a target future state architecture.
  • Experience building large scale data processing and analytical systems with a focus on data warehousing, data integration / data engineering, analytics, data science or application integration.
  • Understanding of the differences between various data storage (relational databases, NoSQL, data lakes etc.) and processing paradigms (ETL streaming CDC etc.), technologies and vendors.
  • Capable of clearly explaining the pros, cons and long-term impacts of architectural decisions.
  • Experience with cloud computing, with a focus on data, analytics, machine learning and serverless technologies.
  • Understanding of data privacy and security best practices.
  • Strong data modelling skills for transactional processing, analytics, and application integration purposes.
  • Ability and desire to be hands-on, proficient in SQL and any of the languages and libraries commonly used in data processing.
  • Naturally curious with outstanding analytical and conceptual skills and ability to think strategically end-to-end while remaining conscious of daily business challenges and constraints.
  • Strong communication, conflict management and negotiation skills with the ability to build trust and secure buy-in from stakeholders at all levels of an organization, speaking confidently to business and technical resources alike.
  • Leverages cross-functional working teams; proven ability to implement a culture of transparency, open communication and collaboration among teams.
  • Flexible, creative, proactive, driven, and productive. Able to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated business acumen. Able to obtain essential information about a situation, focus on the key objectives, recognize the relevant options available, select an appropriate course of action and set in motion to ‘get the job done’.
