JM Family is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Analyst to join our JM&A Group Data Solutions team. The Senior Data Analyst will be part of an Agile Scrum team. They will collaborate with data engineers, BI analysts, business staff, and leaders. They will evaluate complex data to help the organization make informed decisions. The ideal candidate has proven and extensive experience in data analysis, integration, warehousing, cleansing, mapping, and conversion projects.
This position requires a minimum of 3 days a week on-site at our beautiful Deerfield Beach, FL Headquarters.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis on complex business data based on requests from management, project teams, and/or senior leadership to validate business domains and business requirements.
- Work closely with management, data product team, and data end-users to elicit requirements, as well as prioritize business and information needs.
- Engage in close collaboration with Data Architects and Data Engineers to understand, design, and assess data models and views.
- Act as the conduit between the business subject matter experts and technical teams to ensure requirements are correctly documented and understood.
- Ability to guide data analysts and oversee the completion of their activities.
- Test and validate data for completeness and accuracy based on guidelines and mapping documents according to project stakeholders or downstream data and analytics systems.
- Perform analysis of data against mapping documents or business processes to confirm validity. Also, identify patterns, variances, and trends in data
- Oversee and conduct data profiling, data quality assessment, and document Source to Target mapping (STTM) in support of department and strategic initiatives to ensure data quality requirements are precise and complete.
- Identify and document anomalies in data and collaborate with technical teams to address needed corrections.
- Provide subject matter guidance on data usage, flows, and reporting. Participate in technology projects that impact systems, data, or reporting within the scope of responsibility.
- Handle data governance tasks using tools such as MS Purview. Stick to our data governance plan and its rules. Share knowledge of data and business operations. Assist Business Stewards with data governance when they need help.
- Engage in test strategy, test plan development, and the execution of test cases and validation queries to validate data (e.g., create test data, identify existing data to use for testing, write test scripts to validate data loads, conversions, views, opening defects, etc.).
- Develop and execute standard or custom queries and/or reports to retrieve data as required.
- Conduct detailed root cause analysis and research of business and data problems or issues; suggest areas for improvement.
- Provide knowledge and insight of business priorities, business processes, operational data, and its utilization in the immediate business area or value stream.
- Tasked with comprehending source systems, data flows, and their respective data models.
- Understand project management methodology and concepts.
- Perform advanced data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that support business decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or another related field.
- Minimum five years of hands-on data analysis experience working with complex SQL and a deep knowledge of SQL and relevant data structures (flat files, relational, etc.).
- Manage databases, create data models, and analyze data.
- Write SQL queries, using data warehouses, and working with OLAP (online analytical processing).
- Knowledge of database design and data modeling concepts; experience working with a variety of data structures.
- Experience involving data integration, data warehousing, data cleansing, data mapping, and data conversion activities.
- Experience with data analysis, including tools and software used for querying, analyzing, visualizing, and reporting data.
- Significant experience with query optimization and performance improvement techniques.
- Experience with complex BI environments with Azure Synapse, Azure ADF, PowerBI, Tableau, Teradata DW or other ETL/ analytic platforms.
- Experience with DB Visualizer or a similar DB Query tool is required.
- Proficiency with other components of the Microsoft Suite of products such as Excel, Power Automate, Synapse, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, etc., is preferred.
- Proficient at analyzing issues, solving problems, and making decisions through both clear-thinking and creative approaches.
