Epic's multi-specialized team of attorneys and legal professionals partner across our organization to provide legal solutions as well as consult and inform on the products we build and games we develop.
What You'll Do
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with copyright and trademark safe harbor laws such as the DMCA and legal support for rights enablement initiatives alongside the IP legal team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring responsible and mutually beneficial use of intellectual property by supporting the build of world-class tools, company IP policies, and rights holder engagements and managing IP-related escalations.
In this role, you will
- Advise the development and implementation of trademark and copyright safe harbor compliance strategies, tools and policies.
- Manage trademark and copyright takedown request escalations in coordination with business, product and communications.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to evaluate and respond to third-party trademark and copyright infringement claims.
- Lead rights holder engagements regarding IP protection.
- Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends related to intellectual property, rights of publicity and artificial intelligence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Business Development, and Product teams, to support strategic initiatives and business goals.
What we're looking for
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar or international equivalent in at least one jurisdiction.
- At least 5 years of experience practicing intellectual property law, with a focus on intermediary liability and IP enforcement.
- Strong understanding of copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws and principles.
- Experience with safe harbor laws such as the DMCA and A17.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex licensing agreements, preferably in the technology or entertainment industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Passion for gaming and familiarity with the gaming industry is a plus.
This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including CA, NYC, & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

California Base Pay Range
$199,625—$292,783 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$195,466—$286,683 USD
