The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for managing financial reporting, analyzing costs, and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. Responsibilities:
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Review standard material, labor, subcon fees and overhead costs
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile inventories to balance sheet
- Analyze gross margin, other cost of sales, inventory trends and turnover ratios, and production yield data
- Prepare audit schedules and footnote disclosures
- Support business unit and manufacturing groups with cost, mfg and inventory analysis
- Assist in complying with Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and internal control requirements
Inventory Accounting and Control
- Work with Manufacturing to plan and conduct physical inventories
- Reconcile physical inventories to SAP systems for applicable locations
- Validate vendor reconciliations performed by our logistics group and follow-up as required
- Understand and monitor inventory movements and the impact on the P&L
Reporting and Analysis
- Validate GAAP and non-GAAP P&L results by performing detailed analysis of ‘cost of sales’
- Support Product/Customer margin analysis by reviewing, correcting and reconciling SAP transactions that drive detailed corporate and business unit P&L reporting. Reconciliation involves detailed analysis of business activity by P&L account, profit center and company code
- Support the analysis of variances incurred during production and purchasing activities by reviewing production order variances and PPV
Business Process
- Ensure timely completion of month-end process for settlement of production orders and/or the review of production orders prior to settlement
- Support the maintenance material cost updates, activity and overhead rate updates
- Support the process of updating standard costs for new parts and the annual cost roll
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, or related field
- 6+ years professional cost accounting experience in manufacturing enviroment (experience in semiconductor industry or similar electronics manufacturing environment preferred)
- Strong understanding of the manufacturing process from raw to finished goods and cost of sales
- Experience in large ERP systems (SAP environment preferred)
- Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
